Description
I drew these... actually, so long ago, I can't remember when. Been anticipating these a long time; the first ACD and the first Belgian breedings, to my knowledge, in HARPG. Also these were the first two horses in my stable <3 Fitting for Valentines season, I think!
*XxLifeIsOursxX's Harleigh [link] x ~bovidaeloony's Honest American Abe [link]
*Shayla-Estate's SS Tahoe [link] x ~bovidaeloony's American as Apple Pie [link]
Poor Abe, all these years and he still hasn't learned a thing about reading body language. He had no clue why, for the first time since he was a clumsy little colt, he was allowed to play with a girl. No idea. He looked over at Pie, as if he'd forgotten to bring his script and she might have had a copy to lend him. Harleigh's been down this road before but there's only so much even a mare with the patience of a saint can do. We were afraid we were going to have to go with an assisted or even artifical breeding until he caught sight of Pie and Tahoe in the next paddock, providing a picture perfect illustration of what exactly he was supposed to be doing. It still took him a couple of tries, but he finally got the idea, and eventually even got the job done. When we went to take him back to his stall, he seemed affronted that we were taking away his game when he'd just figured out how to play! Moreover, he seemed upset that we'd separated him from his new buddy.
Pie, of course, knew what she was doing. She'd met Tahoe a few times before at competitions and meets but this was the first time they'd been turned out together. She seemed to size him up, and snorted with what could have been approval. If we keep breeding her to gorgeous studs we're afraid she's going to start getting picky.
Tahoe, like so many of the giants, proved to be about as intimidating as a flower and only put up a fuss when we tried to take his mare away. Luckily he was soon distracted by a barn kitten so we didn't have to listen to his caterwauling the whole afternoon.

Somehow I never commented. Tahoe and Pie look lovely. Has their foal ever come?
