I've only got like... 100 or so of these "6 month updates" left. lol, that was dark. =P

But yeah, just drawing, drawing drawing. Miss some of you guys. I'm trying to keep up with you guys, following y'all via social medias and what-not. I actually forgot I had a Twitch, so when I tried to sign up to follow a friend, it said I already had an account. I usually lurk on that site, but have I been lurking not knowing I had an account all this time? lol

And that's the theme of this journal: time and memory. They both pass on by. When I don't see people in my day-to-day, I tend to forget some of you guys. Don't mean to do it. It's actually my fault for being such a hermit and not getting on Deviant art like I used to. lol Some of you did made a lasting impression on me (I hope I did the same), but regardless on who I remember or not, I'd like to keep in touch from time to time.

Aaaannnnyyyway, I'm putting my nose to the grindstone with my game I'm making. Hope everyone will like it. It's probably gonna take another 20 "6 month updates" 'till I get it done (That's 10 years, for those who're counting. lol), but for anyone who's on my friend's list on DA that has a Youtube and/or Twitch will get a free DRM-free review copy of the game. The only catch is that you have to be on my friends list from now and 9 years ago. Any newcomers after today and after this journal's posted won't get one. hahaha

Hey friends! How's it been? Y'all having a good New Years?!

I've been good. A little IBS-y. Meaning my stomach don't feel right. Abligurition towards fast foods isn't helping much, but even when I eat healthy, my stomach just doesn't like it. Maybe I'm at the age to where no matter what I eat, it all turns into molten lava.

Christmas was good, had a lot of gifts. Halloween was cool, although I mostly spend it inside. (I usually dress up as Casey Jones for Halloween. lol) Thanksgiving was great.

Aaaaannnnnnnddddd, that's about it, mang. Hope everyone's doin' good these past few months!

Wow, I'm getting bad at this. My last journal, it's been half a year... then after that it's been a little more than a year! lol I've been out of the game for far too long. It's even been a while since I've drawn anything... so I may be a bit rusty. I'm going to have to get back on the grindstone here.

I no longer have to keep up with getting the Cintiq, as I don't think I'd ever get to save up 2 grand... So instead, I got me a UGEE 1910B graphic screen display! Well, it's not here yet, it's on it's way from the other side of the world. Hopefully this will keep me a bit more on track when it comes to art and stuff.

Also, with that said, I'm thinking of opening up a Art/gamedev studio here soon. I've already created a chop/logo for it. More on that when it develops (hopefully that won't take 20 years.)

It's been a little more than half a year already? I need to get on the ball!

Game update!!!! I've completed many frames, and have many characters drawn up! I'm getting better at it, What was normally taking me a week is now taking me about 3-4 days.

So far, I've got a main character (Alicia! Anyone remember her? Anyone? lol), a 2 player character clone(!), a supporting character, an antagonist, many items and graphics, a bum, and a 4 year old store clerk. haha

Here's some frames, everything's WIP and are subject to change:

Frames by BouncekDeLemos

You can see the Devil May Cry influence, can you? =P The graphics are scaled down here. I draw everything in (kinda) a 4K resolution first.

And... AAAAANNNNNDDD... I've been talking to someone I know, a creator of a game, asking them to use a character/idea from one of their games, mainly as both homage Easter Egg and as an overall "thank you" for letting me work for them on said game. (He said it was cool, btw!)

What's the game? It's a secret. (A few of you may already know if you knew what I've worked on many moons ago... maybe?) What's it gonna be? I dunno yet. I kinda want to keep everything a surprise for my game creating buddy, but at the same time, it's waaaayyyy later down the road when I get to it. I don't even know if the implementation will be doable yet, but I want to add something to show my thanks. :)

So, you know who you are... you. :Đ Without your game, my game probably wouldn't have been conceived.

'Nother journal. Choosing this time to let you all know what I've been working on.

I've been wanting to make a game for a looooonnnggg time, and I've finally took the necessary steps to try and make this. I mentioned it in my old journal labeled "Hey, look who it is! :ᴘ" a while back.

Instead of outsourcing, I'll be doing most the art myself (backgrounds are gonna suck though. haha). Because of this, I'm dropping 3D to go with old fashioned 2D graphics.

The game I'm making is a story-driven-Metroid-vania-ish-beat 'em up that plays like a Devil May Cry clone. The whole game will be in HD, so no pixel art like previous games I was involved in. I'll either do this in some game maker program like Unity, MMF, or probably OpenBOR if it supports story boards and object and level layout like I want.

Oh and:

Idle stance used for animation - Art for my game by BouncekDeLemos

^ Graphics ftw. ^_^ This idle stance is fully drawn and about 98% animated. Took me 5 days to get that far. My schedule:
July 11 - Outline drawing in pencil of idle stance
July 12-13 - Inking (Very difficult to do when you don't have a tablet :steaming:  )
July 14 - Finished with color (Unrelated, my ear started to close up from a previous cold I had)
July 15 - Animation of idle stance complete (That cloak was a pain)

So about a week per frame? After it's all said and done, it'll probably be years past. lol Especially since I'm not good with backgrounds.

Oh well. We'll see how this turns out!

I've been shopping around for a looooonnnggg time, and finally decided to get a drawing tablet. Not to say that having one would make me a better artist, but rather, a less stressful one. =P My girlfriend is probably the only one who hears me bark about this thing over and over, but I'm gonna get one. (sorry hun)

Now, the one I'm getting is one with a display-- not one that sits alone and you use your monitor as one. While that style is okay to some (and a much cheaper alternative, let me tell you), there is issues with drawing one place and it displays somewhere else.

There's that "lag" issue, but more along the lines of it being a "disconnect" as some people would put it. Yeah it takes some getting used to, but I naturally started art traditionally, like drawing on paper. That is something I'm most comfortable with.

Using the mouse is something I grown accustom to, but that's because I've been using a mouse ever since they where invented (or perhaps used as the "norm" for the general public back then... and yes, there was a time when we didn't use/need mouse devices)

I can get stuff done with the mouse, but... maaaannn is it ever tedious. I'm pretty quick to dish out some art, don't get me wrong, but having to draw an image on paper, scan it, fiddle with a ink or selection tool doesn't seem as fast as just-- drawing it.

Drawing on a screened tablet to me seems very natural, it's fast, and overall, it's just THERE. Lines are smoother, workflow is quicker.

The tablet I had in mind was this:
store.wacom.com/us/en/product/…

Beautiful tablet. Great price. Too bad it's outta stock.

So my goal is to obtain a refurbished one and hope it doesn't go away once I have enough money:
store.wacom.com/us/en/product/…

It's got a lot of cool features but the thing I'm looking at is that it's an i7 processor with 8GB of ram. This is great, since it'll help minimize lag and cause the whole drawing experience to be more fluid.

I would go for the Cintiq Companion Hybrid, but the hybrids are Android-based, and I need everything to be on Windows. The tablet has a Windows 8 OS on it. Windows 8 sucks as a desktop OS, but great for tablets (which is great since this is a tablet I'm talking about here! lol)

So my goal is $13,000. Yeah, it's pricey. I always joke that my car was cheaper that it (and it was!) But, it's sounds like a reachable goal if I just stick with the budget system (which my gf helped me develop-- it's a great way to save money)

So I'll try and remember to post this little thing I made below every time I make a journal as some sort of tag/signature or something.

Sorry if this was TL;DR. =P

Resse's!

Okay, for those who don't know the reference, it's from Daytona USA. =P

So how's it goin', peeps? Y'all good? It's been an emotional roller coaster for me as of late, but finally, I'm pulling through it with the help of both family and friends and I feel... pretty dang good right now!

Still broke, and I work 2 jobs now instead of 3. Had to quit sprite work for a Sega Genesis homebrew team since it was closing-in the deadlines and I just couldn't get anything done on time due to stress of working the 2 other jobs and other stresses which was causing health problems. The head-honcho guy understood, and we're still besties. haha

Oh well. If anyone sees a Punch-out-type game for the Sega anytime in the future, I was working on that.

In other news, I know I sound like a broken record, but sorry for any late replies. I never have a good grasp of time. I mean, I started DA when I was 26, and now I'm in my 30's. Next journal I'll be in my 40's! lol (Let's hope not!)

I've been playing Dragon Warrior 1 on the NES lately and I'm leveling up to 30 which is the cap (I'm lvl 20 at the moment). I already saved the Princess and got the Rainbow drop to make the bridge to battle the final boss. I just want to destroy him at the level cap. lol

In other OTHER news, I hope to start a new job in a new city soon. A NEW GAMESTORE!!! :D I really hope it does well, and if it does, I might be moving in that city. The city itself is much more populated, and people seem more friendlier and don't seem do dress like a bunch of rednecks and drug dealers like where I live now. lol

If it doesn't do well, I'm not sure what I'll do, but I promised myself that I wouldn't give up hope. Wish me luck!

Trying to remember everybody. Looking at my friends, I remember most of you... some however... how'd we meet? Oh well, some guys 'look' familiar, so that's okay I guess. Don't worry, I'm not saying I forgot about all y'all-- the vast majority of you guys I'm still familiar with.

OMG YOU GUY'S ART HAS DRAMATICALLY GOTTEN SO MUCH BETTER. Wow! I can't tell if mine's 'increased' or gotten 'better' but some of you guys... dang, yo. Keep up the good work, everybody!

Also, Florida is freakin' hot. I think that should go without saying, but boy-- Florida sure lives up to it's name (spoiler: it's called the "Sunshine State"). So freaking hot, sculpting stuff cures in like minutes instead of days and you never need to dry your hair after a shower. Fer realz. :Ƥ

Nothing much else to say, hate to waste y'all's time (and that last journal which was like a Tokyo phone book, OMG), but I was just in the neighborhood so... yeah.

While I'm in the mood and hyped up, might as well write a journal here (It's been what, a year? Wow.)

I'm mainly giving y'all a status update to tell you guys that, yes... I am still alive and I would love to thank you guys for the birthday wishes (even though--again-- it's been a whole year!)

Personal updates: I've got a car, and now I can drive back and forth to work (Working 2 jobs atm btw), and man... feels good to drive around. I mean, I should have got my license and stuff 15 years ago, but times where tough. Oh yeah! Speaking of which, I'm 31 now. Holy crap, right? Yeah, I'm older than most video game systems you guys own. I'm older than your daddy's old Nintendo. I'm older than the first Sonic game on any Sega system, and I remember when beepers where a thing. Man, I'm old. lol

I've been trying to be a little more healthier. I've actually lost weight, and gained it back by lifting weights! Yeah, I got some lean arms and shoulders now. :D Finally, I'm beginning to look like I did when I was 18. :P

Art updates: But besides all that, I'm still doing the art stuff. Or more of the fact that I'm slowly getting back around to it. I just got so busy with life, and I just want to just do what I can when I can-- which is why I'm not doing any more commissions or requests. I've thought about it for a while, and mostly, I wanna keep a hobby a hobby, and not a job. Maybe I'll come around when I feel like it, but like most artists that don't know what they want... well... that's just it. =P What ever happens just happens.

Oh! Soon I'm gonna be getting into custom figure making. I always wanted to venture into that form of art, and it's something I keep going back to. Again, I'll probably repost this in a submitted deviation, but: I will not be taking requests for customs or anything for your OC's and favorite Marvel characters or whatev's. Just don't have the time. The only stipulation would be that if I wanna do someone's OC on my own, in which case I would definitely ask and credit said artist before doing so.  So it's a "don't ask me, I'll ask you" kind of policy.

Another thing I wanna jump into is game making, but that's something that's not as easy to jump into for the time-being. Freaking learning to code, model, rig and animate takes a LOT of time, which to reiterate, I do not have. Maybe I'll outsource and see if I can just draw up a concept and send it to a modeler.

What kind of game I plan on making? An action game, along the lines of Bayonetta, Devil May Cry, God of War, etc. And even though it's gonna be a vampire story, I know people are gonna say "don't do it" but I'm not gonna just put any ol' cliched 90s vampire story in there-- my influences are mostly drawn from Japanese action manga with the western idea rather than your typical western T.V. show/movie vampire story. If I wanna do it as a business thing, then yeah, I'll do it how everyone would want me to do it, but this is a personal artistic kind of thing-- I'm not in it for the money and for once I wanna do something how I wanna do it. Indie game making in it's purest form: Not main-stream indie gaming, I mean REAL indie gaming.

Although I may sound hypercritical by saying I don't wanna be cliched, but have it in a particular style like DMC, that's just what I like and how I want it. Hack n' slash games seem to always take a back seat to what everybody seems to be "good" games like first person shooters. Not to say shooters are bad, but common man-- there's better games out there. Also, what's been said a thousand times but people still don't get is that graphics don't always make a better game. IMO, graphics look all the same now as they did last gen anyways, it's just a fight to see who can have a better resolution and frame rate (which is funny, because games that ran in 60 fps were done waaaaayyy before the year 1999 happened... then a few generations later companies are striving to achieve that in which they seem to portray 'has never been done before'.)

But of all this crap that I seem winded myself typing is that game making is something I wanna look into in the far future. Gonna wait 'till I'm ready for it both mentally and financially. For something that I'm only doing for the fun of it, is still gonna cost a bunch because I have to spend time and money on it. Of course, that can be said of a lot of things, but priorities first, man.

Technical difficulties updates:
Remember when I deleted all my work from DA and stored it on my HDD? Guess what? My HDD broke! :D Well first it was the outer casing's USB go reader that messed up, so I spent about $14 on a new USB reader that uses external power. Also bought a XBOX 360 HDD casing to help protect it. Weeeelllll now that USB reader broke so a friend gave me a Sans Digital 4 HDD Sata reader tower I can place my HDD in. After buying the needed cables it all worked fine, until I dropped my HDD.

...

Yes, dropped it. It still reads fine, but only when it wants to. I have only seconds to get what I can off of there before it shuts off and tells me that "Oh this can't be read, you need to reformat it". -_-;

No, I don't need to reformat it, that'll loose all my stuff to begin with. I think when I dropped it, it messed up the boot volume causing it not to read in it's original format like it's supposed to. Now when I can get it to read, it'll work fine until it decides to kick me off. It's annoying to say the least. But, my data's STILL on there somewhere, nothing is totally damaged, but it's gonna take me a long time to back up everything when I can. Luckily I got what I needed, but all my DA work, my rare game roms, my projects... all stuck in limbo. It's not the cables since I had extras and changed them. It could be the whole tower itself. Might have to wait until I have money to blow on another reader to find out.

I look at it this way: For now, I treat it like it's gone for good. Gives me a new opportunity to start anew. Still... freakin' sucks monkey poo.

So there you guys have it. My life's story. Sorry to bore ya with it, but it's been a long time. If you guys can, leave a comment, just so I know what you guys been up to. Until then, catch ya on the flip flop!

Like how long's it been? 5 months? Meh. Anywho, All except 1 deviation has been deleteified! (Almost gave me carpal tunnel doing so!) So... YAAAYYY NEW START!!! :D

So what do I do from here? Well, I've recently cleaned out my storage locker. I've been paying for it and keeping my stuff in it for as long as I had this DA account. It slowly kept going up in price, and I just didn't have the money to keep it afloat. Well, I could afford it if I wanted to, it's just that I needed the money to save up for a car, buy a house, and visit my girlfriend who lives in the lone star state.

After cleaning out my storage and going through things, I found some my old drawings, and unlike the things I posted here, I found my older arts to be much more imaginative than my recent stuff. So, What I'm thinking of doing is taking my old art, scanning it, backing it up to my HDDs, and then use them to redraw a updated version. It's funny, I'm almost 30, and I'm looking at my 18 year old self for inspiration.

As of now, lately I've been trying to get commissions out the way. Not here. I've never got 1 commission from DA. All the commissions I've been doing lately are from video game sites such as NintendoAge with label art and stuff. So I probably won't be doing commissions here because there doesn't seem to be a market here than elsewhere-- unless I can figure out how to incorporate what I do there for here. =\

That's 'bout it, y'all. Just wanted you guys to know what I've been up to the past few years. (I've noticed all of your arts have gotten better with age, let's hope mine has too! ;P )

Okay... Some of you may see that my Deviations are disappearing one image after another. That's because I'm painstakingly deleting each and every one of them. Why? I just want to start over. Start anew.

Again you may ask... WHY?! Well, some stuff I don't care for anymore, or they seem too "stupid" or "dumb", or downright don't make sense. I'm getting older, more mature... and there comes a day in an artist's life when he/she wants to wipe the slate clean-- chalk boards and pencils have erasers, so does Deviant art. I might reupload the ones I do like though.

If anyone wants an old deviation, I am backing them all up so note me if you really like one of my arts. Deviant art doesn't allow for deleting every single deviation as a whole, mainly because... well, if you're backing everything up, why would you want to delete everything at once? And secondly, someone could easily erase your whole legacy that way, so it's best to delete one by one.

BUT MAN IT TAKES SO LOOOOONNNNG. Perhaps I'll be done with erasing everything in a few days give or take.

In the meantime, hopefully I will upload stuff in the future~ I got a few things in store, nothing too great, but meh.

So yeah, hey. I feel as if I treated this site as the old "Myspace", going off to the next site and tossing this one to the side like... something worth tossing aside. 0_o

But, even with the new bells and whistles all the other new sites given me, it's time I TRY and get back to my old roots. Sometimes a artist goes off the path he/she was on to find bigger and better things. I myself is one of those people, I can't sit in one place for too long, I'd go insane. But every now and then, I like to go back to the old. It seems so nostalgic that it might as well seem new to me again.

Some of you may be wondering what the Hello Kitty I've been doing all this while. Well, things in my life have changed. The passing of my brother was rather tragic (It happened on Thanksgiving no less), and while I'm better coping with the loss now, I can never forget him. I love my baby brother.

I also was getting clients on video game forum sights for custom video game labels for reproductions and homebrew NES games. While it's fun, it's taken a lot of my time away (Although, I do like getting paid-- sometimes people give me cold hard paypal, sometimes it's a free video game or two!), but I'll try and manage my time and try to get on this site again.

This site... man, I can never forget this site. Thanks to all who have been there for me, and supported me through the years. This site means a lot to me, I even met the most sweetest person on here... I just love this place.

Hopefully it's time to get my name back on the map. I kind of miss the fame I got from the BlazBlue community, and I miss working with indie groups making characters for them. *sigh* the good ol' times...

What does this all mean? Am I coming back? Perhaps. :D But who's to say if I could stay here for a while again... I got the attention span of a gnat.

Here's my current list: img18.imageshack.us/img18/1292…

It only shows 201 carts on that list, that's because that list doesn't count of doubles, repros and the fact that I may have not entered some in the database. But I counted the other day and I physically own 240 NES carts... AND COUNTING!!! 8D
All sped up from 1 hour to 2 and a half minutes. :3

Yeah, an hour for all that. For serious. It's usually a mix of Paint and Photoshop, but I'm trying to speed up my skills in PS more. All this was done in Photoshop 6.0 cuz I'm broke and can't afford the new versions. :P

Oh, and for those who aren't familiar with Super Bat Puncher, look it up... it's an awesome homebrew game for NES. :3
Okay, sorry for being gone in like, FOREVER. But... I want y'all to know that I'm still alive. Life gets pretty busy sometimes. OH! And there's a tournament coming up in my town. If you guys are interested, please attend! Hopefully, the weather wont stop it from happening!

Here's a copy/pasta I took from my NintendoAge Forum post:

Posted on 8/19/2011

Hey guys. A friend of mine is opening a tournament for Super Street Fighter II on the SNES, and whoever's in the area that wants to join, please do! This is his first outing, so it's nothing real huge now, but he plans on making it a monthly thing (games like Madden, Mortal Kombat, BlazBlue, MVC... etc....)

If you're attending, please select "I'm attending" here: www.facebook.com/event.php?eid… It's only $5.00 to get in (door fee only).  Right now, it's only just a cashpot prize, so the more people joining, the better! It's a family event too, so bring the whole family!!!

More info on the flier: img26.imageshack.us/img26/1678…

Any questions, feel free to ask here or on the facebook link. Have fun guys, I hope to see you there!

Okay new news, Good news and bad.

First good:
I've been told that the winner's cashpot was 60% of the entrance fees collected, the more who attend, the more the winner makes once he/she wins!...

Bad news:
With the upcoming tropical storm, the date on the tournament might be postponed and rescheduled. I post something this coming Wednesday to see how it goes. Hopefully it'll all blow over by then... hopefully.
