Fatigue
It is more than just being tired;
It feels like my brain has been rewired.
I stare at the mound of various shapes and forms stacked up by the kitchen sink;
a jumble of used cups, plates , spoons, knives and pans, that inhibits my ability to think.
The thought of washing them up doesn't even cross my mind;
In the cupboard a clean mug I find.
I move the chopping board to make some space;
I need a coffee before the day I can face.
I stir my coffee and dip the spoon in a bowl of cold washing up water;
To reuse for peanut butter for my bread roll, to somehow save on washing up later.
I turn my back on the monstrosity in the kitchen;
and retreat slowly to a comfy chair, hoping to regain some energy again.
Maybe in some way we do hibernate;
In cold winter weather, like a hedgehog sleeping, for spring he does wait.
Curling up in a cosy corner of the room;
Like a fetus, kept warm in the womb.
Wake me up in Spring!
