What's with the outrage meme? Skeksis rant. by Boschian-Fantasies What's with the outrage meme? Skeksis rant. by Boschian-Fantasies
I notice there is a certain person on this website who shall remain anonymous that is going around, bashing fans of villain characters. Included among the villain characters he shames fans for liking, The Skeksis of The Dark Crystal. They seem to be a major target by this nostalgiatard who takes fictional media and children's films WAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

I mean, people are allowed to like villains characters in fictional media, even villains who shallow teeny boppers find ugly and repulsive looking. They're fictional characters after all. Its not like these Skeksis fans like myself are making fan clubs to John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy. Because we all know the difference between liking fictional bad guys and real life bad guys.

As much as I love TDC, I think the fanbase is overflowing with nostalgiabrats who take this film too seriously, and will started screaming and crying over seeing TDC in an alternate light.

Though I must say, even though TDC has a lot of nostalgiabrats in the fanbase, the fanbase is still nowhere near as wretched and disgusting like the Labyrinth fanbase. Talk about fandom abuse killing something awesome!

Pfffffffff.
Don't even mind them, friend.
There always have been such angry fans who seem to not stand someone liking characters they personally can't stand from their fandom .

This is actually the kind of people the sort which apparently can't tell the difference between fiction and reality.

I, for one, love skeksis and write and draw restlessly about them, because I truly enjoy it... Yet, I also have a life, a job, and thousands of things to care for, beyond the fandom, and you won't *ever* see me praising true life "monsters"*in fact you may see me saying the applied laws against them are way too soft and uneffective!...*

The fact that I, or you may like these characters doesn't mean in any way we MUST be "bad" people.

I may draw a skeksis chopping a podling's head off as soon as I may help an unknown  elder 'cross the street and even accompany them home leading them by the arm.

So...that's that: I myself -even being freakishly fan of the skeksis-  can TELL the difference between fictional evil and real one (which is the only dangerous sort) , and accept all points of view on the fandom (I've talked with fans who ABBHORRED the skeksis and did it cordially because they respected my ideas as much as I respected theirs even if they difered a LOT. Their take on gelflings was so RICH, that I like them better as potentially good characters since those talks!...And who knows? Maybe my personal take on skeksis as being much more than "plain cardboar villins" and having interesting backgrounds and having complex and deep story arcs along with the main (canon) plot would make them consider the chance to look at them as interesting creatures instead of just "monsters"

I seriously think every P.O.V deserves respect and consideration , they are what can make a fandom fun, diverse, and wide!

The way I see it, the only way for fandoms to grow and evolve healthily is through respect of different points of view, and not through shoving other fans any opinion, such as way too many "anti-villains-because-we-say-so" do... even though "supporting the good guys" may seem the "only right way", and it's completely alright if it's their preference,I believe that  exploring the "darker side" of fictions allows a depth of expansion on these imaginary world and characters which should not be refrained, because it's creative, amusing, and come on: it's fun! ...and harmless.

If these sort of people simply get berserk about something they probably  didn't even ponder much about, just let them rant along, and don't even mind them ^^

AW, it is not every day that someone calls me "sane" (mostly after seeing my bizarre looks, teehe)
THANK YOU! :cuddle:

People seriously hate these guys that much?:stare:

But why? They were one of the interesting characters in the film and they had unique character designs as well as fleshed out personalities. Me and a friend of mine enjoy the movie and she even loves the Skeksis too.:(

I actually thought they would get fans, seeing almost most of my favorite characters are always villains too. Hell, Jin was so boring as hell in the film....

Most of the Skeksis hatedom, consist of nostalgiatards, and shallow air head teeny boppers, who would only like the Skeksis if they were hot pretty boy Adonises.

But I see why the Skeksis have a healthy (errrr...somewhat) fandom.

Are you talking about Jen the Gelfing, or Jin Kazama from Tekken?

I so agree, I love Kira.

Not because she looks cute, but she was more interesting than Jen.

Kira has a personality. Jen needed to be much more than a viewer insert.
