Description
Ok, here is another villain. This guy used to give me the creeps when I was a kid.
Professor James Moriarty from Russian TV series adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle's novels about Sherlock Holmes.
I think he is the best Moriarty I ever seen. As well as the all adaptations about Sherlock Holmes directed by Igor Maslennikov.
2,5 hours study.

This piece showcases great textures and great use of lighting. Setting the light source behind the character, therefore casting a shadow over him worked really well as to imply that he is a villain. This also gives the painting a mysterious and dark atmosphere to it.
I like the loose brush stroke style it is painted in; it really helps to bring out the difference in textures, especially between the smooth fabrics of his suit in contrast with his coarse skin.
One thing that looks a bit off to me is his nose. His nostril looks to large and out of proportion. Also the left eye looks awkward, it’s probably the prospective that his face is in (very hard to draw in this prospective).
I think this is a stunning piece and is well executed.
