Happy Stroll

    Zephyr and Treehugger were dating for a little less than two years before they got engaged and moved in together into Zephyr’s home in Ponyville. Soon after moving out of his parents’ home in Cloudsdale, Zephyr took up his calling as a manedresser/hair stylist in Ponyville, and he was introduced to Treehugger some time after that through Fluttershy. The two hit it off right away, although Treehugger was extremely touchy and came on too strongly for some time, making Zephyr flustered and nervous. Between his flightiness and low self-esteem and Treezy’s easygoing flirty ways and ditziness, nopony expected their relationship to last as long as it did. 

    Although it was true that Zephyr found the mare strange and airheaded at first, he gradually fell for the earth pony's goofy, drowsy smile, the way she drawled on and on melodically in her charming nonsensical mannerisms, the way she lived without a care or responsibility in the world… after a lifetime of living with his overprotective, constantly worried parents and fussy older sis Fluttershy, he felt like he’d finally met somepony who totally understood him and “synchronized with his aura,” as Treezy would put it. Whenever she spoke or they hung out together, the high-strung pegasus would find himself relaxing almost into a stupor as she ran her hooves through and braided his silky flaxen hair, piled flower crowns on his mane and head, and talked until the cows came home about her latest meditation yoga session or enlightening trip to a waterfall filled with positive auras. He would vent about rude customers or things that would stress him out (of which there were many), and all of his anger and stress would melt away under Treehugger’s therapy. Because of the nature of their different personalities, Zephyr became a more mature and responsible adult, and took great pride in being able to provide and take care of not only himself, but a marefriend, soon-to-be wife! 

    They got engaged not too many years after moving in (the proposal went something along the lines of Zephyr trying to plan an absolutely perfect day with all of Tree’s favorite treats and a fancy dinner, much of it going over Treehugger’s head. In the end, they were laying together peacefully in a meadow when Zephyr, with much fumbling and nervousness and sweating, popped the question, and Tree just knocked him over his feet, planted a big sloppy kiss on his forehead, and enthusiastically drawled, “DUUUDE, OF COURSEEE," and proceeded to delve into a long speech about "cosmic harmony" and "blessed blissful unity" that Zephyr didn't understand at all but found adorably sweet anyways).
