Hades loved her but Persephone flew from him. Yet he followed and watched her, and devised a way to steal her to be his queen of the dead.

Mixed shiny, sparkly media and pomegranates on canvas board, 12 x 8.5″
To be printed as one of the cards in the forthcoming trading card set ‘Classic Mythology 2′ from Perna Studios.

Edited to add: Daily Deviation! Thank you so enormously for all the love Persephone and her Hades has got! I'm taking you all out for wine and little cakes. ♥

Love this so much.

I was really surprised to see this because just recently I half drew a really similar picture of Persephone emerging from a tree. I say half done because I couldn't work out the proportions but you got it spot on!

Damn, you can totally feel her distress. The contrasts in the palette honestly would have me thinking "dang, this can't work out", but guess what... Of course it does. X,D Did you make this illustration a bit more nouveau-esque than your usual or am I just seeing things? Well, amazing work!:)

Thank you, I'm glad that comes through! :)
Yes the colour palette is a little strange: grey, green and pink-gold, but I saw those colours in nature (flowers in a misty wood) and was inspired.

If there are art nouveau tendencies coming out though, that's accidental.  Though I'm influenced by some of the same things they were: nature, romantic subjects, organic forms, and Japanese prints. But unlike them, I am still influenced by neo-classicism but not Celtic Art.
I love art nouveau of that period, it's glorious and sumptuous, but admittedly I'm not a huge fan of copies of the style done now, just because there's so much of it. I'd like instead to see people use those ideas for something new. :)
God what an essay, ha, sorry.

Hahahaha, keep writing essays as you will! That was so educative.~

I understand, some styles do feel way too saturated (in the marketcoughcough) nowadays... I try to think positive by remembering more people are hopefully having access to art though! :)

You're right of course, it's a brilliant thing that more people are seeing great art, including the classics, and that art is becoming part of people's lives (everyone's) not just a select few. :)

You're welcome.
I would hang this on my wall, or put it in my tarot deck, I love the details and line work

A Greek myth tarot deck would be interesting. Thanks for the comment. :)
