Lately, I've been showing you pages that have changed a bit in style for me. I've added a lighting affect that I call a 'haze' over each panel that represents the color of the light in that scene. if you haven't noticed the difference, i'll show you here.
this one does NOT have the 'haze' lighting affect. this is just straight color without any kind of filter over it. the colors appear bright and fresh, but maybe a bit oversaturated. the details are clear and there is still a sense of depth that allows the characters to pop.
This page has a blue 'haze' over it that is supposed to be representational of the night and the low lighting inside the building. The colors underneath are all still the same bright colors, but the haze sort of evens out the harshness a bit. it does make the page appear dark or 'hazy' and sort of washes out some of the detail.
so my question is: what do you think of the lighting affect? should I try to incorporate it into more of my comics? should I go back to the way it was? which is better and why? if you think that the blue haze fits that particular story, well, yes, but I can create another color to fit the lighting of any scene. let me know in the comments what you think.
