1.- Hello, and welcome to 20 Questions with Fourth Wall Magazine! What is your real name and nickname?
Fool! My name is Emile Shockton, but most people call me Doctor Shock.
2.- Very Nice to meet you, what is your current age?
I am 65 years old, but I have been keeping myself looking young and healthy like this through the miracles of EVIL SCIENCE! And some special cake recipes, as well.
3.- What is your alignment in the great never-ending battle of good and evil?
Why, EVIL, of course! The Truths of the Universe can only be revealed to those brave enough to follow the controversial path of evil.
4.- What is the origin of your powers?
My greatest 'power' is my mind. I have a genius intellect for creating any Evil device I can imagine. This also includes biological Evil, as well, like evil twins, mutants and the like. My cybernetic limbs were something I had to create because I lost my own arms and legs in a terrible explosion in my lab. I was trying to create the Ultimate Evil Henchman, using my lab assistant as a test subject. The experiment went wrong and the lab exploded. That's not all that went wrong! My lab assistant? He didn't even become Evil! Perhaps you've heard of him: Great-Man? Yes, that was MY work!
5.- That's a lot to take in.. Now, superpowers and such aside, what do you feel is your greatest strength as a character?
The Evil Science. It's never failed me. My evil schemes may fall through, but the inventions, experiments and such are always spot on. It's what makes me the Greatest Evil Scientist in the Universe. That, and my modesty.
6.- Here's what may be a bizarre question: What kind of Universe do you exist in? Is it serious? Comical? Sexy? Noir? Horror?
Ah! A Science question! I exist in a universe that I have dubbed the "Deviant Universe", as it is full of do-gooding super heroes and their DEVIATION from evil! Clever, no? I have visited OTHER universes, however. Think of the multiverse as a mathematical graph. The coordinates on the graph can have positive and negative numbers depending on which quadrant you are in. Each point on the graph is like the different universes in the multiverse. The Deviant Universe would fall into the FIRST quadrant, as there are a fair balance of positive (Heroes) and negative (villains) personalities. I have visited the THIRD quadrant, though! The one called the DARK DIMENSION! There are no heroes there, only villains. This may sound wonderful to you, but somehow, without that balance, it becomes a threat to my very existence! What was the question again?
7.- A lot of super-people have certain recurring elements of tragedy in their background. The readers would like to know if you do as well. For instance, are your parents still alive and/or did you come from a destroyed planet? Stuff like that.
'Recurring elements of tragedy' indeed! I do my best to battle the forces of good. But whenever I try to create some evil life form, it ends up on the side of Good. For instance, I started out doing experiments on my lab animals to create Evil animals. My experiments ended in the creation of a powerful superHERO named Thunder Jack Rabbit! Irony! Then I turned to humans to create the Ultimate Evil Henchman and I have already told you how that ended in miserable, heroic failure in the form of Great-Man! I use robots a lot now. Evil robots.
8.- Who made your costume?
This? This was my uniform when I worked in Area 51 years ago. Well, a modified version of it, anyway. I changed the colour to purple so it looked more Evil.
9.- Do you have siblings?
10.- What is your biggest fear/ worst nightmare?
Only a fool is without fear. And I am no fool! I fear death at the hands of heroes! I fear losing everything I have worked for. But most of all, I fear that Doctor Voltaic will find a way to find ME and the Deviant Universe. Doctor Voltaic is my super Evil counterpart from the DARK DIMENSION I mentioned earlier. He is my opposite in that HIS evil schemes actually pan out.
11.- Are you a solo act, or part of a team?
I work with the Dark Legion, currently. This is the best I have ever had it, really. No more stealing to fund my Evil experiments! All of the funds and equipment are provided for me. Psi-Void has directed projects for me to work on and I am also free to dabble in whatever I wish! Plus, it's good to know that if I get discovered there are team members to fight any heroes that might show up--while I find an escape pod or teleportation device to escape.
12.- Who is your worst enemy and why?
Great-Man and Thunder Jack Rabbit are my greatest enemies. Mostly out of my own resentment that they were supposed to be Evil! .....Vicky Velocity? She's a minor annoyance. But fun to goad into fits of despair!
13.- Huh, okay. interesting. Then, who is your best friend?
I suppose my robot Mister Transistor. He's good for cannon fodder and I can trust him to bake the cakes I decorate correctly. He's also a wonderful dancer.
14.- Confession time: Who is your lover?
Bah! I have no time for such frivolity! 'Love' is too much like 'Good' and I am far too Evil for that!
15.- Existential question: What would you do if you could ever meet your creator?
Ask him for more hair.
16.- What is your lifelong dream?
To be able to practice Evil Science unencumbered. Do you know how much Evil I could do? Plagues! Bombs! Mutants! Giant ants! Invisibility rays!
17.- What would you do if your dream came true?
Probably keep creating Evil experiments till I die.
18.- As a character, do you have any personal demons or overarching regrets that haunt you?
Not really. I've never been one to look back with regret. I don't really look back at all. Some think that's why my schemes keep failing, but I'm not sure what they mean? Why study failure? To become a better failure? No. Better to look forward and try again.
19.- What does your "secret identity" do for work?
I have no secret identity.
20.- Last question, and it's a DOOZY for a super: What is the WEIRDEST thing that has happened to you?
Probably when I participated in the event called Maximum Destruction. I merged with the minds and bodies of Captain Valiant and Vicky Velocity. For a YEAR after we separated, I was able to hear their thoughts! Which sounds advantageous, but not so much when the person's thoughts you're hearing are a 16 year old girl who's also a speedster! Nonsense and drama at the speed of sound! I was glad when THAT was over!
I tag no one. You may do this meme if you wish, though.
