I have not been terribly active here on DA for a while...although I have been very busy. Here's a little something I'm quite proud of that was a joint project with my nephew Corey Rindler. It was a proposal by him for his final project in music engineering at Capitol University in Columbus Ohio. I was deeply honored and excited. This is likely as close as I will ever come to realizing my dream of a movie being made featuring my stories and concepts and art...so here they are, Project Esoterra in three parts.
Okay, so...I have not been on DA much for quite some time... I wonder if that matters much, but here I am. I've been VERY ill for several months and basically all through the holidays...so they weren't exactly joyous. I think I have a handle on things and I'm getting better physically any way- but my mood has been pretty down. Last year was quite a mixed box of things and ended....not great.
But, I'm busy working on some new stuff- mostly a piece for an art exhibition being held out west in Washington state at a couple of galleries. It's a fantasy mixed media sculptural exhibition centering around interpretations of the Zodiac and the planets. I got asked to be part of this with not a great amount of notice and so have been working hard to get at least one piece done and shipped out. It's a big one and I'll post photos here later for the few of you that still watch what I post and read what I have to say here. I'm trying hard to try to get my foot in the door of other areas of art in the fantasy art world as the art doll world- despite several recent publications interviewing me- seems to have pretty much rejected my work, or at least the collectors of that world. So I wonder how much effort I will be spending on courting as it were patrons in that genre any more. I'm hoping that getting in this exhibition will open the doors for me to begin to venture in to different world of fantasy art as figurative sculptor versus a doll artist.
I will be at this years' Quinlan Art Doll and Teddy Bear show in Philly this May, but it's about 99% likely it will be my LAST year there. I will also be in Chelsea Michigan the first weekend in October for the Ghoultide Gathering show- THAT is a great thing and I am looking forward to that show very much. So...if any of you might be out around those locations, drop by the shows and say hello and see some of my work in person.
Any way, as I see recently from many others who I am connected with here, I am stepping in to say: I am not dead...quite... I appologize to those of you who have written to me here and made comments and asked questions of me as most of them have gone unanswered. I can't promise that I will answer all of them soon...but I will try and know that I do read them all. Thank you to you folks who still come by and who watch me still and those of you new to my page who have added me to your watch list in the past six months or more- I appreciate that very much!
