A very last minute intentional entry to EQD's Pumpkin Carving Contest! =P

First time having a try at adding shading into a carving, it's a lot easier than most people think. Thankfully, Twilight on has four colour shades to her design. I didn't intend to carve a pony, but given we always get lots of visitors to our house due to a relative being the local school caretaker, whatever I do carve has to have a pretty 'U' rating.

For the record, I would have had a go at doing Starlight, alas, I not sure if anyone who turns up tomorrow would be able to recognise her, so Twilight was a much safer option! :P

MLP:FiM owned by Hasbro.

And not to mention that Starlight kinda divided everyone into either hating her redemption thing when it happened, or taking it good-naturedly, or indeed just being neutral to it...

^^; not really sure what I'm trying to say here, but Twilight was definitely the better choice.

Well, I would just imagine how hard will Rainbow Dash pumpkin carving would be.

I tried my hand at the shading thing this year myself, though mine doesn't seem to show up as clearly as yours, despite practically shaving that pumpkin's skin almost all the way through in spots.

I carved a rubber ducky into mine. Because irony. :D

The thought of a rubber duck pumpkin amuses me greatly! XD

As for shading, this was simply the results of five minutes reading on Google, then pure pot luck as to how it turned out. It didn't look quite as vibrant in reality. The only advice I could possibly give is that it might be worth investing in a Dremmel (Other rotary tools are available!) it made shaving the inside wall to let more light through far more easier, even it did create a fair bit of pumpkin mush in the process! :P

I never did learn how to do that...

Didn't get the chance too either, for some reason our pumpkin crop came in early as August this year, they're on there way out.

That pesky climate change, ruining our traditions! :P

As for learning shading. This was the result of less than five minutes reading on Google, then just going for it! =P
