I don't recall what the client specified for the artpiece. I think its safe to assume that it's a EM acceleration gun of some description (railgun, coilgun, dust gun).

One could explain away the barrel as housing the necessary components (magnets, capacitors and electronics) required to fire the projectile.

I am familiar with FMP! It was a favourite of mine awhile back. I have a Laevatein and Arbalest model kit waiting to be assembled haha.
