just cause they bought it, doesn't mean they'll do something bad with it. They bought marvel, and they barely influenced it in the movies- same thing will happen to star wars

I'm surprised, but I'm not mad. It seems pretty similar to when they bought Marvel, and I don't really think Lucas has made any good films in a long time.

However, it's proof that the empire known as Disney is so powerful, that not even George Lucas can fight it. Who knows, maybe this will lead to theatrical versions of a Blu-Ray release (I can dream, right?). I just hope it doesn't lead to the Death Star having two spheres above it in future reedits.

I'm shocked, but not enraged. A few years ago I would have screamed, but Marvel seems to be doing fairly well........Also, wouldn't it be awesome if they pulled in Whedon like they did for The Avengers? We could get a Star Wars movie with good dialogue for once.

kinda crazy, but I don't know, Lucas hasn't been turning out anything good, just keeps releasing the same stuff, turn around and aim for "child friendly" and sells it to disney. I guess he thinks his better days are behind him. let disney have them, if they are successful, we will bet the better for it; if not Disney goes under, they all go under and that was going to happen anyway.

My dad and I were just talking about this. Overall I'm not excited. I don't know why, I just don't like to see Disney eating up companies. I mean, Pixar, then Marvel...so what now they have plans to eat up all independent entertainment?

Then again...Grand Admiral Thrawn could make an appearance down this road. :D

Why? Why does this need to happen? They already have Marvel, isn't that enough?

I see it as a great thing, mainly because Disney will most likely release the original version of star wars on Bluray.

What do you think of Disney owning Pixar and muppets?

Actually, it should be Pixar owns Disney, considering the traditional animators all got laid off and the building was torn down :(

Muppets, it makes sense, considering it's a children's thing, and i never really cared for Muppets anyway

Do you think Disney was better off without Pixar? and do you think Sony should had bought Marvel and do you think Warner should had bought Lucasfilm?

Disney and Pixar could have done fine side by side, there are people now who really miss traditional animation from Disney, it really was the best in the world.

I don't know about the other companies, and I really don't think my opinion matters. They did what they wanted and sealed their fates, either good or bad.

btw Pink Floyd is amazing :icondarksideofthemoonplz:

I just hope Disney treats LucasFilm as they did at Marvel, otherwise it could end up a bad move.

i got the same reaction about that. but my reaction was regarding the price for which it was sold. 4.05 Billion? that seems a bit cheap for Star Wars. if they say 6- 8 biilion that would sound more like it still cheap but ok. on the plus side Lucas will never hurt Star Wars again. :D

If Disney can arm twist Lucas to release the original Star Wars trilogy in it's original theatrical version, fully digitally restored into Blu-ray, then I'm all for it. They just do that, then I don't care what else they do with the series.

I'm withholding judgement. A few years ago Disney bought Marvel and then The Avengers happened. So maybe it could be good, maybe.

All I have to say is the same thing I'm telling everyone else with this: Has Disney messed with Marvel comics? Nope. Lucas screwed up the prequel movies, not anyone else. I see this whole deal as a good thing. For the next movie, we might have real locations, instead of all computer generated stuff.

Lucas tapped out on Star Wars decades ago. He's been making money off it, then off Spielberg. Kudos to him for mining that stuff for all it's worth and bailing on something he hasn't cared about since I was a young teen.

Literally what I commented in the poll:

"There is definitely a lot of potential in this buy. But really considering how close of a relationship Lucas has had with Disney this was completely inevitable, it just kind of happened when no one was paying attention. Anywho, regardless of how some of us felt about a certain prequel trillogy I think we can all agree that it might be interesting to see Star Wars under a new person's creative direction.

There are a lot of uncertainties to be sure but there's a lot of potential for something fantastic here."
