Stop on by, I will have copies of 4 Gun Conclusion available (Only 500 copies) as well as prints and t-shirts!

See you guys at the CON!

ALSO, I am going for a more French comics/ European comics style.  More in the style like KIRAZ, Enrique Fernandez... That kind of vibe.  So if you can color in that type of style, please contact me!

Hey guys, I know I haven't written in my journal for a while.

Been busy working on Pixar's latest movie AND

working on my new comic, 4 GUN CONCLUSION: Bronson and Guinness
for the San Diego Comic Con.

So not a lot of time to write in journals.

But, I wanted to give my followers a heads up, that I am going to post on my Tumblr, my comic from last year, The ENFORCEMEN!
The ENFORCEMEN was printed in the CHILDHOOD HEROES anthology that I did with my friends from the animation industry!

I figure I will post it for free on FREE COMIC BOOK DAY this Saturday on my Tumblr: bobbyrubio.tumblr.com/

This way, all you guys who couldn't get the book will finally have a chance to see the story!

Well gotta go back to work.  And if you want to see images from my work and other stuff around that I do, follow my instagram: instagram.com/bobbyrubio

Talk to you guys later!
Hey guys, I am on Instagram!

Wanna see pictures from Pixar (not stuff behind the scenes of course, I'd get fired. But stuff allowed to be seen by public)?
Wanna see some of the stuff in my office?
Wanna see goofy drawings and pics that I don't post on DA?

Then follow me on my in Instagram: instagram.com/bobbyrubio

Follow me there and I follow back!
Alcatraz High #1 is completely online and free!

And Alcatraz High #2 will be posted next week.  Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I will post a new page.

Come and check out the comic that I created after work hours!  Alcatraz High #1, I made while I was at Disney as an Disney Animator, so it has a more Disneyesque feel.  Alcatraz High #2, I believe was the year I transitioned over to Avatar the Last Airbender at Nickelodeon.  So it still didn't have an anime influence quite yet...

It's kinda neat to look back at the issue, I still love all the characters and the story is fun, cool and exciting, I just wish the drawings were slightly better.  This is a good lesson to all of you starting out on creating your own stories, JUST DO IT! Don't think it has to be perfect, because it never will.  I'm sure every artist can look back at their first issues and cringe at some of the choices and execution.

All reviews, critiques, fan artwork is encouraged and appreciated!  If you love ALCATRAZ HIGH, please share, Reblog, RT and all that good stuff!

Talk to you guys later!
Bobby
Pixar Story Artist

Disney Animator

Avatar the Last Airbender, Story board Artist and Assistant Director

Marvel Comics, cover artist

So this past few months I was training my Story Intern at Pixar and I was talking to him about my previous gigs, before I was at Pixar.  I told him the above resume and he was like "What?!! you should post that stuff! People don't know that!" I guess I assume people do. So just in case you didn't know, I did that stuff.

And also, on the side I create my own comic, ALCATRAZ HIGH which I will be posting online: alcatrazhigh.tumblr.com/

Come and check it out, follow me, and reblog.

The interesting thing is I started Alcatraz High back when I was at Disney as a Traditional Animator on Treasure Planet.  And the style of the first issue was heavily influenced by Disney.  As I moved on to Avatar the Last Airbender the style started to have a more anime feel and once I moved to Pixar I was trying to incorporate some of that visual language to my comic.  So come along and read my comic. The first story arc is completely done. And for those of you who have read all of my comics, THANK YOU and please don't spoil any of the story for the new readership.

And for you guys who have been there from the start, I will post new drawings by me as well as pin-ups from fans and friends in the animation and comic industry!

See you guys there! alcatrazhigh.tumblr.com/

A while back I did this Alcatraz High story in storyboard form.

If you haven't seen it, it's all new to you!

Follow me on Tumblr and I'll follow right back!

Okay guys, I fixed my Tumblr. bobbyrubio.tumblr.com/

I admit it looked messy before, now it's all nice and clean and ready for visitors.

So follow me and I'll follow right back!

Hi guys,

So at this years San Diego Comic Con, I was joined by my pals and fellow Pixar Artists, Everett Downing and Austin Madison!
This was one of the best comic cons and part of what made it so fun is that my booth mates and I created a friendly drawing competition that we called the "Cosplayoffs"!  We asked cool Cosplayers, if they would like to be sketched on the spot and they would get a free drawing from all of us, absolutely free.  It was fun meeting new people and drawing such amazing costumes!

We decided to do it all year round and we created a Tumblr page cosplayoffs.tumblr.com/

Come and follow us! And if you want a free drawing from us, just submit a pic of your Cosplay!

Comic Con is next week!

Finally, I'm going back to my hometown of San Diego, to the Comic Con, in my same booth for the past few years, BOOTH #1943!

BUT this year I am joined by my pals and fellow Pixar Story Artists, Everett Downing and Austin Madison!  We will have on hand the BRAND NEW, Limited edition Anthology book CHILDHOOD HEROES! Created by professional artists from the animation and comic book industry bobbyrubio.deviantart.com/art/… This book will be the debut of my Childhood Heroes, the ENFORCEMEN!

Also available at my booth is ALL five issues of Alcatraz High! The story is COMPLETE and there is also a limited amount of copies left! I will have prints of my artwork at the booth as well! This is the 10 year anniversary of AH and me being an exhibitor at the Con, so we want celebrate in style!

We will be doing commissions at the con, starting at $50! And the price varies from each artist.

We will also be having random Sketch-offs, where we ask Cosplayers from the floor to model for us and we will sketch against each other! We will post our sketches on our twitter accounts, AND every Cosplayer that we draw will have 3 Free drawings from Pixar artists of them! ALL COSPLAYERS are welcome, so if there are any volunteers, just stop on by (men and women, Pixar cosplayers, Avatar Cosplayers, Comic Cosplayers... ALL are welcome!)

It's going to be a lot of fun hanging out with my friends and you guys at the SDCC Booth#1943!  We are across from Sideshow Collectibles! Here is the map bobbyrubio.deviantart.com/art/…

And for those of you who cannot join in on the fun, I will post pics from the floor of the Con on my Twitter twitter.com/Bobby_Rubio

See you at the Con!
Wow!  It's already been TEN YEARS?!!!

It's true, I started the series in 2003.  Back then I was at Disney Feature Animation and I wanted to give my first love of comics a try, I asked my brother which series I should do, the ENFORCEMEN (my superhero team that will debut this year) OR Alcatraz High.  He suggested Alcatraz High, because it was something different that would showcase my love of robots and my animation skills.  So off I ran with it, and created a comic every year (as my fans can attest, I missed a few. But in it's place I created an ashcan or poster, but never went to the comic con without a new product!) Last year I completed the series first story arc. SO ALL 5 ISSUES OF ALCATRAZ HIGH is DONE!

Between all the work on my day job at Pixar and trying to get ENFORCEMEN done for the CHILDHOOD HEROES Anthology, I forgot that this was the 10 year anniversary.  I definitely want to celebrate this accomplishment with my fans! Especially those of you who have been there from the beginning.  It is crazy to see some of you who have bought the book in grade school and now are in college!  For me it also has been a journey, from Disney Feature Animation to working at Nickelodeon on Avatar the Last Airbender to now, working at Pixar Feature Animation for the past 6 years as a Story Artist!  And the artistic style of Alcatraz High has changed over the years, you can tell it had a very Disney quality to it in the beginning and then a more anime flavor as I worked on Avatar!

To celebrate the TEN YEAR Anniversary at San Diego Comic Con, I will draw for FREE any of the characters from Alcatraz High on your sketchbooks, or comics or posters!

I am also planning on collecting the stories together and putting them together in a book.  I'm going to recruit friends to do pin-ups for the book, so if you are a fan of the book and want to contribute please let me know here on DA or at the Comic Con.  Because this book is going to be pretty cool! It's been ten years of fun and I want to make the book as awesome as possible.  I want to do a brand new color pass through the book and some new artwork to make the story flow better.  So I will also be looking for a color designer.  If any of you guys are interested, just let me know.

So THANK YOU, to my friends and fans.  THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT!  Creating comics has always been my dream and your support has made that come true!  You guys rock and I hope to see you at the San Diego Comic Con at my booth #1943!

First, I want to say congrats to my co-workers at Pixar and the whole Monsters University crew for all the hard work that went into the movie and for being Pixar's 14th consecutive #1 movie!

Sorry that I haven't written or posted in a while, been busy working on the latest project at Pixar during the day and working on my comic projects at night.  One of the projects is the CHILDHOOD HEROES anthology book!  The idea of the book is to take characters that we created as children and update them.  In some cases we would print the original artwork we did as kids along with our current take on them.  My Childhood Heroes was the ENFORCEMEN, and I drew a brand new story for the anthology book!  My friends from Pixar, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon and the comic industry have contributed to the book and it looks amazing!  Be sure to pick up a copy at the Tr!ckst3r Store or my booth at the comic con, which is #1943 across from Sideshow Collectibles!

Stop on by my booth, my buddie's and fellow Pixar Artists, Austin Madison and Everett Downing will be there as well as my fellow Gentlemen's Drawing Club and Comic Creator, Howard Shum will be there.  Feel free to bring your Monster's University, Brave, Cars, Up or Nickelodeon's Avatar the Last Airbender merchandise, I will be happy to sign them for you!  Stop on by booth #1943, there is going to be some awesome stuff here that you will not find anywhere else!

Hey guys, today is Creator-Owned Day and some friends of mine at Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks, Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse are contributing to a comic anthology "Childhood Heroes."  It will debut in July at TRICKSTER in San Diego and some books will be available at my booth at the San Diego Comic Con.

The concept of the book is to take comic characters that we created when we were kids and update them, and we will also print the original drawings.  It's interesting to see what inspired us when we were just drawing for fun and to see our drawing styles when we were kids. Also, portions of the proceeds will go to children's charities!  So spread the word and follow us on Tumblr: childhood-heroes.tumblr.com/

I had a great time drawing it, as I am a fan of the Runaways!

Also, the BRAVE Dvd came out today, so go and pick that up.  I haven't checked out the extras yet, hopefully my arm made a guest appearance.  It was a blast being a Story Artist on the movie and I'm looking forward to seeing all the cool extras in it!

SO, CTN Animation Expo is coming in a few days and I will be there at my table along with my brother Ronald Rubio (Director, King of the Hill, and Cleveland Show)!  Be sure to also stop on by and visit fellow Pixarians at CTN, Jeff Pidgeon, Matt Jones, Armand Baltazar and John Nevarez!  See all you Animation guys there!

Hey guys, it's been a while.  I've been busy with work and just finished up another Marvel cover that I will post when I am able to.

It's been crazy busy, and CTN is around the corner too... Ah man, I gotta get ready for that too... One more on the list!

Anyways, just wanted to invite you guys to check out this daily comic strip (except Saturday and Sunday) that I have been doing on my facebook page: www.facebook.com/pages/Art-of-…

It's a story of this crazy dream I had of being a masked Filipino Luchador.

I'm drawing it in a style, very similar to my storyboards.  These are rough... Super rough.  But readable. And Appealing. (The cornerstones of Animation and Storyboards.) So for those of you who were about to ask "How rough can your boards get?"  This will give you an idea.  It's just silly fun.  And a good exercise for composition and storytelling.

Come on over and check it out. "Like" the page to follow.  Talk to you guys later!
