I am, naturally, just taking my first steps in the professional world and doing work mostly for friends and acquaintances. It can feel so ungrateful to tell a client that the money they're offering just isn't enough, especially when I'm still slightly reeling that people are willing to give me money at all. But my gouache work takes tens of hours to put together, it's an insanely time-consuming and indepth process as gouache goes. Still got a family's worth of cards to do, and at least one more picture to finish for Claire's present (she's getting delicious illustrations, but despite the fact that if I valued every hour of my time at like a tenth of minimum wage this would STILL be the most valuable present I'm giving everyone (there is some SERIOUS time investment going on here, man), it's still going to look like such a cheap present. Ah well. I'll finish this picture I'm working on, hopefully it won't come out too badly, and then I can bind it up nicely and it'll be fine
