MY ARTISTIC JOURNEY ON DA
"I didn't want to be an artist"
I was a born artist with hardly an interest in arts. I was more an outdoor person who was inclined towards history and photography, you would have found me dabbling in long gone wars, the birth of Empire and their deaths. But art? Oh no, it was for someone who had melancholy souls. I lived a life believing that to be a successful person one had to excel at anything but art. How wrong did life prove me. A small tryst with art happened in Grade 5. My sketches/drawings were a big hit but still the enigmatic world of art didn't ensnare another artist. Big compliments and I rested on my laurels. Period.
Life took it's long course and not even once did I think to tapping this hidden talent. Though I must say that even for an adventurous soul like mine, I was impressed with the work of Leonardo da vinci,, his Monalisa continues to amaze me and her mysterious smile, in my opinion , gives her everlasting charm. Her magic will never
Using HTML on deviantART
Hello and welcome to my little html tutorial. I've been working with html codes for a couple of years and I'm going to teach you what I know about using some basic html on deviantART. This won't make you a html expert or something and I'm not an expert myself but it will give just enough knowledge to make your journals, comments, news articles and other neat and lovely looking.
deviantART actually has FAQs about html but I still wanted to do this because they look a bit unorganized, in my opinion. Also, why would you want to look for those FAQs when you can just open this news article where you have everything in one place?
You may already know some of these, but I hope you'll find at least something helpful in this news article.
Some basic html

Semper Mecum Custos Angelicus
A peaceful. quiet night
Holy in its silence
Yet night is consumed by light
When wings drop down from Heaven
A human lack of fright
For people's eyes are resting
Yet hear the celestical cries
When wings get ripped and sever
My wings may be white,
Although my heart is grey
For angels too sin,
No matter how much they pray

DARK ANGEL CONTEST WINNERS
Sorry for the delay but its time to announce the winners of the "DARK ANGEL CONTEST"
This was a very hard contest to judge. We had so many talented member enter and the skill some of you posses is amazing.
The judges had no choice but to go by the rules and come up with darker angels as that was what the contest was about.
The judges did an excellent job and I am happy with their choices though I can imagine some of you are questioning our picks. Let me just say take the contests and the rules literally as thats what the judges are looking for. Thanks to everyone who entered we had many great pieces of art to sift through.

King Kong and I contest (closed)
Welcome to my second contest
3 years ago, I held my first contest Draw Tom Ripley Contest in 2012 with total 39,600 That event still makes me poor but very pleased until now.
In 2015, I am quite lucky in art. I won lots of points from many contests throughout the year.
Now I'm ready to hold a contest again and share 12,900 to other artists.
This event is called...
KING KONG AND I
Yes, the theme of this contest is about King Kong and a woman.
I believe that almost all of you have seen King Kong movies at least once from 1933, 1976 or 2005 version.
So, this event is like 10 year anniversary for the last time we saw King Kong.

How do we choose art for this group?
Good question; how DO we pick the collages for our group?
It is probably a matter of individual taste, or individual aesthetics.
Lots of people don't like my work at all because they find it too busy, the colors are too bright, their eye does not know where to rest, ... OR they don't know why, but they just don't like it!
Their taste is simply not like mine.
I have learned to not take that as an affront or to get upset when I show my work to anyone, in person, or online. So there are groups that repeatedly decline my work.
So I look at their galleries again and see that I don't really care for their choices, they may be boring to me or even too "classic". Whatever the reason, I don't make things like the administrator likes.
So I leave the group, as you have done. It still is not a good feeling to most people to have their work declined. But by noticing that I must check again to see what that group was looking for ... does my work look like anything in their galleri

Mourning for Icarus by H.J. Draper 1898
The Theme- ART:
We want you to recreate the story of Icarus, be that modern, or ancient using stock and resources available on DeviantART.
The Theme - STOCK:
We want you to recreate the story of Icarus, in stock form! Is your Icarus male or female? Are your wings made from feathers and wax or something more magical?
The Story: Icarus
Son of Daedalus who dared to fly too near the sun on wings of feathers and wax. Daedalus had been imprisoned by King Minos of Crete within the walls of his own invention, the Labyrinth. But the great craftsman's genius would not suffer captivity. He made two pairs of wings by adhering feathers to a wooden frame with wax. Giving one pair to his son, he cautioned him that flying too near the sun would cause the wax to melt. But Icarus became ecstatic with the ability to fly and forgot hi

Problem with stock artists
I don't know if discussing this here will help at all but I do hope at least some stock artists see this.
Ever since I started doing book covers for authors, I have had to consider one more thing to look for in the stock rules, available for commercial use or not. Some stock providers say it is OK, some say you have to ask them first and others don't say anything. In cases of background stock, there is always an option to look for other stock images. When it comes to models, the characters on the covers have to be very precise so finding the right model is very difficult. So once I find the right one, I try to work it with the model as much as I can. In my one year of doing this, I have had several instances where the stock artists never got back to me or did that very late (a month or more). Now you don't expect the client to wait for that long for you so these replies are really no good after so long. I have also had an instance with one of the biggest and best stock providers on dA

I believe in deviantART. Which is to more accurately say I believe in the concept and the reality of the deviantART community.
When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.

Be vigilant of phishing scams
Your account's security is of vital importance to deviantART and we're committed to providing our members resources and advice on how to stay safe and secure online. Earlier today, an individual or group of individuals redirected some deviantART members to a false deviantART login screen by exploiting a cross-site-scripting vulnerability in deviantART's Journal system. This tactic, commonly known as phishing, allowed the individuals to gain access to some accounts.
Phishing is a serious matter on the Web. You've probably heard of phishing attempts through emails, the classic example being a fake email from a bank or other trusted authority, asking you to enter your personal information.
The individuals discovered and exploited a cross-site-scripting vulnerability in Journals that provided them the ability to redirect deviants to a different website, designed to mimic a deviantART login screen. Some deviants who did not realize that they were bei

Painted Portrait Interview with ZawArt
Welcome to Painted Portrait, a new Interview series focusing on traditional artists worth keeping an eye on. Painted Portrait interviews aim to give the community more insight into talented traditional artists and how they came to be successful with their art. Today we are interviewing ZawArt.
Thank you for allowing me to interview you, let's start off by having you introduce yourself.
-Hello! I'm one of the millions of users at this noble portal. As you can see by my gallery, I draw a little bit, on wood, on leather, on paper... Just another ordinary guy who likes spending time on creating.
Your gallery is filled with incredibly intricate drawings including celtic knots and the like, what inspires your drawings?
-Oh, this will be a rather standard answer... I'm not unique in this matter, as most of the creating brothers and sisters, I'm inspired by what surrounds me. Except music, books and things of this sort, I've been always in
Otto and Victoria, Octovictorian Etiquette
There is no cosmic law that states artists must suffer many long years and demeaning day-jobs before a window of opportunity cracks open just enough to hop on through.
Fellow deviant Brian Kesinger is a case in point.
His first “day-job” in 1996—he was hired straight out of his senior year of high school—was drawing Tarzan for Disney.
Brian stayed at Disney and he considers every day there a part of his ongoing education as an artist. He most r
