Happy International Animation Day!
Unfortunately I've been busy since school started again and so I didn't have the time to make anything special this year, but I decided to make a quick journal post with some of the animations I made over the summer.
A quick test starring my character, Tira Knottings.
A little birthday gift for my favourite songwriter/composer and an overall huge inspiration, Ron Mael of Sparks (buy 1,000,000,000 copies of the amazing new Sparks album, "Hippopotamus").
And finally here's a 3D office desk (and a bit of the rest of the room) I made for a school project. I have a little idea for another short film involving an office that I've had in mind for a while - I want that to be 2D/traditionally animated, but I want to use this same design. I'm hoping to get (at least an excerpt of) it done by Christmas.
I had one more cartoon I made over the summer which I haven't posted yet. It was something inspired by the films of David Shrigley and Phil Mulloy, but I didn't do it very successfully and in the end it looked a bit messy and crudely animated, and so I wasn't satisfied and decided not to post it. But now looking back at it again, it was something I enjoyed working on and I did spend a lot of time on it, so I think I'll just share it as a little "treat" for Halloween... especially since it's a little bit on the creepy/horror side of the things. Stay tuned.
