Healing the Forest

My entry for Chrissabug's Favorite Magic Spell Challenge! Here's my OC, a druid lady, calling upon the Four Elements to magically regrow the plants and trees that a wildfire burned down. Inspired by the recent wildfires that consumed parts of the forest near my hometown in early June. If I could do magic, I'd love to be able to heal people, animals and plants alike 🤍

The kind of spell-casting depicted here derives from paganism/Wicca, where practitioners may choose to cast their magic circle by calling upon the powers of the four classical elements. Usually, you'd place an object symbolizing each element at a specific point on the cercle:
🌱 Minerals, sand, or a plant to the North: Earth 🜃
💨 Incense to the East: Air 🜁
🔥 A candle or brasero to the South: Fire 🜂
💧 Some water to the West: Water 🜄

In some cultures (like in Greek philosophy, or in medieval alchemy), the four elements were indeed thought to be the basic compounds of all existing matter, permeating life itself. I liked the idea that combining all of them through magical means could make life grow anew. The concept was challenging because I had to go out of my comfort zone, but it was still fun to do
