Indeed, these flowers mean "forsaken, sadness, lost love", as they're said to have bloomed from the tears Aphrodite shed over the death of her beloved Adonis. That's why I chose to draw her with this flower - though in this painting, it's not about the death of a loved one: it's about her lack of emotional support....I never liked those flowers much (because I don't find them pretty), but now that I know their meaning in flower language, I like them even less!
