I hope this letter finds you well. I know that you'd prefer email, but we both know how much of a sucker I am for paper and pen when it comes to big things. It's been two weeks since I saw you last, but thankfully written correspondence is a God sent. Negotiations with the Mist Folk are being finalized, Lin and Nydia are working as leaders for this new alliance and soon mist folk will become as much a part of Bath as the shore and sky. Of course there will be some challenges, people do not forget hostile invasions easily, but I have faith that in time, they will be able to walk among their fellow citizens without need of their powers. Father has stepped down from his role as king. I'm sure this comes as no surprise, but in his words, " Bath is getting a fresh start, and for that it deserves a fresh king."
And as I'm sure you could pick up, my brother Ross is going to be coroneted within the month, mayhaps you'll swing by for a dance… Sorry got off topic, back to the news. Ross has officially declared Selah as Fitz's widow, meaning she's now officially part of the family. She's also been given the title she always deserved, Knight. She's still recovering and while she will never regain her sight, I can assure you that she'll live in comfort all of her days. My sister Thalia has some exciting news!
The reason she was not here that day of the fall was that she is, in fact with child! Doran's been strutting around the kingdom since they arrived, so proud to be a father. Most of my siblings left after the attack, and sadly I believe that the lioness herself won't be returning to her old stomping grounds any time soon. Amber took this hit hard, so it's fully understandable. Sam's herd was disbanded in the attacks, which greatly upset him. But he's now off on the road with Talla, and the centuaress assures me that he's getting better day by day. Lilac…she's not returned home since the attack. I think it was all to much for her gentle soul to handle. I've not gotten word from her. But if I had to assume, she's somewhere happy and safe, she always did have luck in that area…
As for Maeve…well Ross sentenced her to rehabilitation, and since Lilac isn't here to do it Wilson has been assigned her case. I don't trust the cur as far as I could throw her, but Wilson sees good in her somewhere. I respectfully disagree. And disrespectfully, but you get my point.
And me? Well, after Ross found out about my…more shameful habits these past couple of months I've been put on leave. After these diplomatic papers are signed and my brother is officially the new king, I am forbidden from entering my office or continuing my work until at least the new year. I've decided to take this time to go out and see the world…after all, Ooo's a really big place. I want to visit kingdoms and chase the sun, Coral thinks I'm insane for traveling without an envoy, but I think that it could be a great adventure. Don't worry though, I assure you that Laurel lane will only ever be a call away.
I hope that you're feeling well, and I hope that you listen when Zeeb says to take it easy. You might be Superman but even he has to rest every once and a while. I can't be there with you, but know that I look forward anxiously to when our paths cross again.
Princess Laurel " Lane" Eleanor Mysa of the Kingdom of Bath
And with that my dear lovelies, the Fall of Bath draws to a close. It was a fun project and I hope y'all enjoyed it. ^^ I wanna answer some questions I feel like y'all might have so here goes:
Are you done with Bath?
Nope! Just cause Laurel's not there doesn't mean that life stops happening. Hopefully this will allow me to write and draw more of Bath citizens that aren't Laurel and stories that focused more on those who decided to stay. Coral, Clove and Wilson have the most story fleshed out so far, but trust me, their tales are just beginning.
What about Laurel?
Again, have no fear, the peach princess isn't going away forever, in fact she's not even really taking a break. I wanted to use this as an opportunity to have Laurel interact more and to draw new kingdoms, new places, and new friends. Laurel will still be keeping up with those she holds dear but, some new friends and enemies are hopefully coming her way.
Basically Laurel's still Laurel, just out and about, off to explore and see where this new part of her life will lead. Laurel is now officially open for questions and if any of y'all want, she's free to ask some in return.
