A vampire character that belongs to a friend of mine. Well, the name doesn't. Can you tell he's a Neil Gaiman fan?

Really, I just wanted to draw someone with an old-fashioned outfit and a walking stick, and I figured I'd stick this guy in it since I didn't feel like coming up with someone new. Besides, the last picture I drew of Decarabas is noticeably old, and just a bit scary.

Now mind you, this one is pretty damn scary in the life, because, well, people don't actually come in those angles. I CGed this to rescue it from the Lovecraftian depths of the fifth, sixth, and seventh dimensions, into which it had apparently stretched. Funny-looking thing. The top (but not the bottom!) of his head was too big, the arm was doing some bizarre thing that they just aren't allowed to do, and the stick...well, let's just say it was pointing into directions best left unexplored. And the legs were sort of cockeyed, which was just mortifying.

Looks tolerable, now, though. His arm is too long, but I'm proud of the hand on the stick. At least he looks human. If a bit of a priss. But then, that's Decarabas for you.

What I learned: Er...don't drink and draw? ;)

Nice work; I cannot tell at all that it needed salvaging.

(Just curious: is your friend playing off the fact that the Marquis de Carabas was a trick played by Puss in Boots? I geek a bit on gaming, and I wondered.)

Nope, he was inspired by the Neil Gaiman character from Neverwhere.

The character from Neverwhere named himself after the creation of Puss in Boots, which is why I was wondering; that's what he means when he's thinking that he "named himself from a lie in a fairy tale, and created himself--his clothes, his manner, his carriage--as a grand joke", right before Croup and Vandemar kill him.

Not that the Marquis as an autonomous being rather than another's creation isn't perfectly cool on his own.

Very nice. He looks like a typically snooty member of one of the High Clans. Class, style, and an ego to boot. I like it.

You forgot pig-headed. :)

The character's frustrating and fun in equal doses. Have you ever seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force? He's like Master Shake with motivation and bigger words.

I've not caught that one. My recent exposure to cool TV and other media has been somewhat limited.
