This was my submission for the latest Prompt Challenge over at 
where your character(s) is sucked into a movie world via dream...or nightmare, as the case may be. So I decided to go with the animated Disney Princess movies, partly because the visual style is fairly simple to represent, and partly because I do enjoy some social satire. ^_^ Clearly, my characters are none to happy to be here. (With the exception of Charli, who still doesn't care for the demands to conform. Then again, he never has.)
Just as a note, I don't hate the Disney movies across the board. I actually really liked Mulan, with the exception of the unnecessary comedy sidekick critters (comedy sidekicks also prevent Hunchback of Notre Dame from being an otherwise awesome movie), and the much-maligned Atlantis. I just have some issues with the way Disney has represented things like female body image and romantic expectations in the past. For me the biggest offender is the Little Mermaid, which follows the same disturbing relationship trajectory as Twilight, but these days they are getting better about it. Even though so far they've only ever gotten part of a movie right, lessons wise, they seem to be trying more nowadays. I think Tangled got the male role right, in that Flynn proven he was actually willing to make sacrifices for her and be worth the kind of devotion usually bestowed on the "handsome prince" role - also that they didn't have a contrived insta-love relationship. Brave got the character of Merida perfect, although they could have given her more to do with all her character and pluck and (title drop!) Bravery. And Frozen, while I don't think it was quite the perfect movie the critics have been raving about, did make an effort to right some old wrongs, namely that familial love and friendship are as important as romantic connections. Also, if a guy you just met hours before wants you to marry him, he is almost certainly a creepy asshole.
Anyhow, that was my little Disney rant, and here is my Disney princess character cast. Enjoy!
