Happy Anniversary to a timeless classic franchise! 40 years of the Super Mario Bros. series! Back in 1985, Super Mario Bros. launched on the NES, forever changing the landscape of gaming and shaping the childhoods (and adulthoods) of millions around the world. Now in 2025, we celebrate 40 years of jumping, stomping, and saving the Mushroom Kingdom with a wave of special surprises and announcements!

For the very first time, BOTH Super Mario Galaxy AND Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be available on the Nintendo Switch (it will also work on Nintendo Switch 2), allowing players to soar across the stars once again. Super Mario Galaxy was previously included in Super Mario 3D All Stars, but not its' direct sequel. However now, after 15 long years, Super Mario Galaxy 2 finally makes its return since its original release on the Wii in 2010. As someone who has been waiting all this time, I can’t express how happy I am that this masterpiece is finally getting the release it deserves. It's my favorite Wii game.

And because The Super Mario Bros. Movie from 2023 was such a financial hit for Nintendo, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is coming in April of 2026, as an official sequel. That's right. Mario's new adventure will take him and his friends beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and into the vast reaches of space, bringing the magic of both Super Mario Galaxy titles to the big screen for the very first time.

There's some other stuff mentioned such as Mario Tennis Fever coming in 2026, a new Yoshi game that also is on its' way and even a Talking Flower merchandise, which are based on the ones from Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

For four decades, Super Mario Bros. has been more than just a video game. It’s been a symbol of creativity, joy, and timeless fun. From pixelated beginnings to cinematic stardom, Mario continues to inspire generations, bridging the gap between nostalgia and innovation.
