just thought I would share with you whats been going on with me lately an why I havent been on DA...I have been having chest pains, it feels as though everything in my chest gets so tight that its going to explode..i know its not my heart because I had a stress test done a couple of months ago..also sometimes when I take a mouth full of whatever i'm drinking..for some reason, I cant swallow, it feels as though theres a blockage...anyway, I did go to my Doctor's today and he sent me in to get an x-ray (which I did already on the way home) he's also sending me to see a specialist that will put a scope down my throat and see if theres anything there...I am so nervous about this!!..I will keep you all updated when I find out whats going o with me!!

I am so sorry to hear this, Marilyn! I know the xray and scope will help diagnose the problem. I must agree with others who have suggested it is GERD. I know you are taking meds, but you still have to be careful of what you eat, don't lay down flat, try to bend over as little as possible, etc...  I think it may be esophageal spasms, which is another frequent complaint associated with GERD. It feels like a heart attack - severe pain like bands tightening across your chest. I have it, and the first time it happened, I went to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack. I still get it occasionally, usually at night, and it comes as a sudden surprise which wakes me up. I have discovered that quickly drinking warm water will stop the spasms.

Keep us posted! I hope and pray this new problem is nothing serious.

I am really sorry to hear about this. I hope they manage to work
out what the problem is so they can help you with it. If you hadn't
mentioned the blockage I would have thought it would have been
down to how stressed out you have been lately because when I
get stressed out I get crazy acid reflux which is so bad you really
do feel like you are having a heart attack because the pain is so
high up it feels like chest pains. I shall be thinking of you and wishing
you well again  :rose:

Did you ever heard about hyperventilation?
Just try to breath very deep in and out. Very slowly.
Drinking Coca Cola also can help you. Just drinking slowly little sips.

The waiting for results can be so upsetting. At times there is nothing wrong and the doctor's staff figure there is nothing to report. That happens to me especially if I have a follow up lab work done. I have to call and say well do you have results??? Then they will tell me well it is about the same as last time so nothing much to tell you. This is when I say well do you not think that I would like to know that instead of wondering if this or that is wrong? Hopefully you will find out before the week end so you do not have to stew over this those days when the doctor's offices are closed. Good luck dear Marilyn I will keep positive thoughts that all will be fine or that if they do find something it is not going to be too hard to take care of.:heart: ssssssss

It's very aggravating to have to wait..my dr's receptionist told me to call back tomorrow, she thinks that they should have the results by then.....I had tuberculosis when I was 4 years old..I was in the hospital for almost a year..I even started school in the hospital...I am just hoping that my pains have nothing to do with my lungs..it's very worrisome to me...

It is always hard to push worrying thoughts like that out of the way as we let our minds go wild speculating for what if it is this or that while we wait. This is why it is so important for the doctor's staff to communicate with the patients in a timely fashion so that they do not worry unnecessarily. The longer we wait the worst it gets. Hopefully tomorrow you will have good news to share with us dear Marilyn.:heart:
