Holiday Hounds by BlueFlyer Holiday Hounds by BlueFlyer
I have no idea what they are looking at. Full view if you want to see it huge.

Anyway, these are four canine friends who have given each other gifts for the holidays. Each gift speaks somewhat well to their personality.

Belgian Tervuren, Dingo/Shepherd mix, Whippet, and a Border Collie mix.

The whippet and BC mix are fast becoming characters in my head <3

Augh the cute doggie faces. ♥ Whippet is my fav here and not just because I'm biased, I like the pudgy butt and adorable derpy sitting pose. I do hope to be hearing more about the BC and whippet as time goes by :D There's an interesting texture in the Dingo mix's coat that I really like, too, and I think you did great at making the terv look terv-y as opposed to German Shepherd-ish, with the pointy nose and ears. :D

The neck fluff on the Terv could have totally been thicker, but I was kinda going for a cartoony look rather than semi-realistic. One day I'll learn how to balance both like you *tips hat*. WHIPPETS RULE THE WORLD, I'm really excited to bring them to MC. I plan to have them both be the pets of city law enforcement (if not MG, then a nearby city) and these two are always trying to "solve the crimes" their owners are working on- maybe getting into spots of trouble along the way. ;)

Eeek that sounds like it could be really fun! I'm excited to see you making characters for use on MG, Sotes is busy at the moment but we are hoping to be able to get things rolling on the move ASAP. At the moment we're all still figuring out what we're going to do with our characters.

I really like your cartoony style and it's cool to see you applying it to doggies and other beasts as well as to horsies. :D When I complimented the Terv, I thought you did a good job of caricaturing and emphasizing the distinctive features of the breed so it's recognizable while still being cartoony and cute!

Thank you once again Swift! You are so wonderful! I'm glad I made the Tervie recognizable.

With the holidays here, it's completely understandable to be busy and I'm not in any hurry to see the site up if it isn't ready! I am excited for it, though. I've decided that I'm going to take it slow this time in the hopes that I'll be able to get grounded first.

Oh yeah! Firefeet wanted me to ask in my last post (and of course I forgot) - are feline breeds going to be as strictly policed on this new board as they were on the current (old?) board?

Yes we're all excited about it and we're hoping the facelift will be a good spark of inspiration for everyone :)

There will likely still be quite a few restrictions on breeds for cat characters, yes. However the breeds allowed for cats have expanded to include the Siamese and other Oriental breeds, British Shorthair, and others.

As for the facelift being an inspiration- I think it's safe to assume that yes! It probably will be!

That's a bummer about cat breed restrictions still being in place, but I know there's a logical reason behind it that I am just too simple-minded to understand. :iconhurpdurpplz:

It's mostly because we're encouraging people to mainly make characters of mixed breed/moggie cats, since the very, very vast majority of pet cats are of indeterminate origin. The cat breeds that we have approved are the ones most commonly found as pets and show up in kitten mills etc. which you can realistically do more with with regards to story etc. Most varieties of purebred cats are largely only owned by show breeders and others in the cat fancy. Hope that clears things up a bit! :)

Ah I see, yeah! That clears things up for sure for us both. Thanks Swifty. I absolutely agree that most cats you see realistically (that is to say, in the real world) are definitely of mixed breeding.
