The Etzur

The Etzur are ancient, tree-born beings of Solithra, born from the Creator’s tears that fell upon the world after the extinction of the great dinosaur Orins. They rose from soil and seed in the Verdant Restoration, a time when the land was healing from fire and ruin. To many, they are the quietest miracle—creatures that do not rule or hunt, but remember. An Etzur can stand motionless for centuries, rooted deep into the earth, their bark indistinguishable from the trees around them. Yet beneath that stillness lies a mind that never sleeps, one that listens to the heartbeat of the world. In their humanoid form, an Etzur resembles a towering, deerlike figure—graceful yet unsettling. Their bodies are woven from bark and vine, muscles of twisted root moving with creaks like bending branches. Their eyes are large and round, glowing softly in shades that shift with their emotion: green for calm, amber for thought, red for grief or fury. Their faces hold a snout-like shape, gentle and animalistic, and their heads are often crowned by antlers of carved wood or flowering branches. When they transform from tree to being, they do so by untwisting their limbs, the sound like wood splitting after rain; when they return to stillness, they tuck in those same limbs, becoming once again part of the forest. Etzurs are deeply patient, slow to act, and slower still to anger. They can communicate through voice—low, creaking, and resonant—or by subtler means: the rustle of their leaves, the pattern of falling pollen, or the scent of sap. They are capable of love and family, mating to produce saplings, who are born small but mobile, already aware and curious. Mothers carry their young within their branches, keeping them close as they learn to listen to the rhythms of the forest. Though peaceful, Etzurs have known grief. When Solosus walked the earth, they wept before him for the harm Orins had done to their kin. Yet his warmth and forgiveness softened their hearts, and they came to see the good that could live even in those who destroy. Today, they watch civilizations from afar—guardians of the untouched wilds. Their only enduring tension lies with the Gigorins, whose use of wood often offends them. While Etzurs are not angered by dead timber, Gigorins rarely check before they cut, and too often an axe bites into living flesh. To the Etzur, time is not a river but a forest—vast, layered, eternal. They are the memory of Solithra made flesh and bark, standing as silent witnesses to every age that has passed beneath their roots.

Tiamos: The Heartless Warrior

Tiamos is the last known hybrid of both Heartless and Orin in Solithra. His origins are steeped in tragedy and deception. His father, also a Heartless rabbit created during the Age of Defilement, was sent to infiltrate and reproduce with a real Orin. Carrying out his mission with calculated efficiency, he married and seduced his target, intending to claim the child and eliminate the mother. She struck back with a pitchfork, maiming him and escaping with the newborn. Whether the father survived or perished afterward remains unknown. Tiamos’ mother, a perceptive and resilient rabbit, fled with him to the mountains but ultimately succumbed to the cold, dying while clutching her infant. When the Hand of the Great One discovered her body, Tiamos was alive and uncrying — a silent indicator of his Heartless heritage. Inheriting his father’s lethal precision and his mother’s cunning and resilience, Tiamos became the ultimate weapon, trained from infancy by the Hand of the Great One to be adaptive, supremely skilled, and deadly. Unlike his Heartless predecessors, he carries faint traces of Orin emotion, subtle and confusing, making him unpredictable in ways that even the most intelligent Heartless could never achieve. Though emotionless by his father’s nature, Tiamos’ hybrid blood gives him sparks of instinct and morality, tempering his lethality with glimpses of autonomy. Tiamos is, in many ways, the living echo of the Heartless legacy. He bridges the gap between absolute void and living soul, embodying the horrors of the Age of Defilement while carrying a measure of mortality that sets him apart from the soulless soldiers of old. Though he did not participate in the Seven-Year Crusade, his existence represents the unfinished work of the Heartless: survival, perfection, and an enduring, silent threat. He is a reminder that even in a world that destroyed nearly all of the Heartless, the shadow of their creation endures in a single, lethal heartbeat.

Hunters

The Hunters are a deeply entrenched human-supremacist faction, defined by their fanatical ideology and relentless pursuit of zoomorphs, husks, and anyone who aids them. They operate with a rigid hierarchy and a brutal code of conduct, treating any perceived deviation from their “purity” as justification for execution. Over the decades, their fanaticism has only sharpened their methods, making them not just a hunting party, but a sustained, militarized presence capable of enforcing their ideology across large territories. Their fanaticism is symbolized in their cruel use of jawless, crucified Carcasses, which serve both as psychological warfare and territorial markers. Despite existing in a world long past collapse, the Hunters maintain surprising operational capability. They have scavenged, reverse-engineered, and improvised a wide array of military equipment. Striders, tanks, helicopters, boats, and electrified settlements mark them as a semi-mechanized faction, capable of rapid strikes and multi-domain operations. They manufacture crude yet functional artillery and weapons, demonstrating a combination of technical resourcefulness and willingness to weaponize anything at hand—including Carcasses like Happies—for maximum effect. Visually, the Hunters cultivate a terrifying identity. Their uniforms and vehicles follow a strict red, black, and white palette, while skull-shaped faceplates give each operative a dehumanized, fearsome appearance. These aesthetic choices amplify their psychological impact on humans, zoomorphs, and husks alike, projecting both ideological zeal and the threat of imminent violence. Combined with their aggressive tactics—suicide bombers, mobile Carcass units, and improvised explosives—the Hunters operate as a faction that is simultaneously fanatical, adaptive, and deadly, making them one of the most dangerous forces in the post-collapse world.
