Thermopylae

Thermopylae by p.b. wells It came to me half-asleep, that 3 a.m. dark hour between consciousness and the ditch. half dream, half curse. I was slouched in my chair inside my Fortress of Solitude, headlights from SR 9 flickering off empty bottles, the air thick with cannabis, Loreena McKennitt whispering through the cheap speaker haze. Then it hit. Thermopylae. the word dropped in my skull like a goddamn anvil. Thermopylae. I whispered it out loud, tasted the grit of it. didn’t know why. didn’t need to. it just came, uninvited, like a ghost that still knows your name. And then the questions started. the ugly kind that won’t let you sleep. where are our Spartans? where’s our Leonidas? who would walk out his door knowing he wouldn’t come back… and still do it anyway? The Sgiathanach Mariner’s Return

I wrote this song while driving home in a snowstorm just before Christmas doing 35 miles an hour on I-95 during white out conditions with a hundred and 30 miles to go; Hoping not to have an accident, and wondering what my wife was going to do without me, and I was feeling sorry for myself for a minute, my muscles were cramping and the heater in my work van was barely able to keep up with the snow. I then imagined that if I had it bad what was it like to be an ancient mariner away for months or years. My wife's ancestors being from Sgai, Skye in English and so it began. Homeward, Homeward bring me home to home and to heal [Verse 1] Ship’s canvas taut, she skims the brine He eyes the bow, the foam, the line Grey cliffs lift up and break the roar He minds the brae, the peat-smoke door [Chorus] Hameward, hameward, o’er the foam Hearth and bairns and ingle’s gloam Hameward, hameward, steer the keel Bring me hame to hame and heal [Verse 2] Norlan’ wind cuts through his coat Snaw-drift

Soul Soldier 099: Jaws

Soul Soldier 099 Activated Primary Function: Aquatic Refuse Consumption Description: The rivers of China, while beautiful, are sometimes full of sickening pollution that threatens the lives of millions. Realizing this is a major hazard, the Shepherds created one of the last Pre-Annexing Soul Soldiers to combat this crisis. This is the result of that brainchild; the mighty Jaws! Armed with razor sharp teeth, sophisticated guidance systems, and remora torpedos, this robotic fish can take on anything both Tunango and the polluters can dish out! At first, this seems a bit extreme, going to such trouble just to bring down pollutants. But it's not just that which causes problems; Tunango has been known to corrupt drinking water in order to fuel his Star Children allies with the souls of millions. Now that George has entered the scene, and revived 099 on the banks of the Yangtze River, he continues his pollution combating duties, but also serves as a general of the water, along with

Soul Soldier 093: Mechacrab

Soul Soldier 093 Activated Primary Function: Guardian Juggernaut of the Sea Description: This is perhaps one of the most bizarre designs for a sea guardian yet devised; this big blue crustacean was designs late into the Shepherds' overall surveillance of the world, but was perhaps one of their strongest. After the betrayal of Tunango and the Star Childrens' slow integration into certain sections of Earthly society, Timaneus created 093 to guard the Pacific ocean from their slimy grasp. He's equipped with powerful claws, an innate navigational awareness after being imbued by the infamous Captain James Cook's essence, and the conspicuous coral cannon that shoots powerful blasts of concentrated seawater to outright melt opponents. He was reactivated at the bottom of a sand bank 20 miles off the east coast of Trinidad, and has since continued his vigil, this time added on with Soldiers 011, 079 and 099 among others.

It was all the result of wormholes created by scientists from the future tinkering with time machines too much. This results in the continent being full of life.
