Ah, so it was the Magic Sword on the cover of Zelda II. Interesting. It really does look like a decent mix. And while looking at images of the SCII version, I was surprised to see that the butterfly net made it in the game as a weapon.

Joke weapons have been a tradition of the SoulCalibur games for a long time, such as Siegfried's Giant Squid and Ivy's Magic Sausage. The bug-catching net fits. At least in that context.
