It displays the effect of volumetric light at least 
which I think was lost after manipulation, I didn't notice that tree before either 
I have plenty of boring Vue renders that were turned into cool stuff anyway, I havn't kept a "before and after" in a couple of years so the last was this [link] turned into this [link]
If you knew lava was going to be added in the final, you could have assisted in that by putting a point light coloured red in that abyss, sometimes using multiple lights is necessary for special effects in to-be matte paintings
