Description

Colourful banners flying high, fanfares calling for everyone's attention. The tourney was in full swing, asking all knights to present themselves from their best sides. It was a celebrated day, warriors from everywhere came to test their mettle.

Some enjoyed the chance to prove themselves. Others thrived in the spotlight. To capture the audience in full, with cheers and more.

Some though preferred the more secluded areas of the tournament grounds, the spots where one could have a bit more privacy to reflect and find ones calm before charging down the list.

There was a knight and squire duo that would always opt for the security and privacy of those areas. The silence when putting on layer by layer of plate. The care in every fastened strap. The wish for an unharmed return in every tightened buckle. To serve in chivalry meant to be in your best shape to keep up those honourable values and offer your opponent nothing but your best. But somehow this did not seem to be the reason of worry here. in a moment of distraction the mind wandered off to the busy main grounds, all the colours, the sounds, the people. Would there be a day when all of this would be lost? Drowned out by the sensationalism and the risk of spilled blood? A celebration of entertainment, not a warrior's skill? The bonds and oaths of knights carried into battle, replaced by rivalries and feuds for the sake of winning an audience? Displays of courtship and requesting favours fading out, leaving only the short-lived sparks of passion behind? Of brotherships formed side by side, or even as opponents, losing their meaning?

"What's on your mind, my lord."

The clack of rings on steel could be heard once the helmet was taken. Held, but not lifted, to linger a little on the moment, fingers brushing by not just hardened iron but also supportive hands. Thoughts gathered, but not in a way they could be voiced. The mind was heavy, heavier than at other days. The times of knights and tournaments was vanishing, they said, forgetting that one day tournaments were even banned before making a return. There was no way this could ever fade into the nothingness of the past. Yet, there was change. Perhaps one that would alter what the essence of a tourney was. And this thought laid heavy on the noble knight.

"Will they....remember?"

They would....

Will they remember

Teamed up with @abosz007 in this collab to bring you a little glimpse into the past with the image and story.

The Spring Tourney brings you closer to the Cornu Aureum knights order and its origin. A seminar activity is held where one can learn more about the order, its roots, who their influential saints are, etc.

Not only are they an order brought into existence by a truly noble knight, but they were also officiated by the ruling catholic king, who had proven himself not just a ruler, but a knight himself.

Radomir would be remembered as knight-king with his loyal knight -guard Vojin at his side, and centuries later the Cornu Aureum still upholds the values they have set in place for them. From chivalry, to faith, to honing their skills in battle, the Cornu Aureum lives according to its conception, adjusted, but never losing its core.

As I had said on Cursey's post, this is really good. I really like how he is wondering if people will remember, not just him but also the tournament and all that goes into it. A really good read and art.
