Description
The Sheriff of Nottingham, the droll, sadistic, and flamboyantly wicked antagonist created by Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), is widely considered one of the greatest "scene-stealing" villains in cinematic history.
He is defined by theatrical cruelty and a complete lack of impulse control. While Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood played the "straight man," Rickman’s Sheriff was a whirlwind of dark comedy and genuine menace. He represents the petulant tyrant—a man who wants to rule the world but is easily annoyed by the minor inconveniences of bureaucracy and incompetent henchmen. He is the visual personification of "High-Camp Evil," proving that a villain is most dangerous when he is clearly having the most fun in the room.
Alan was a baddest! In that movie
