Here is the rough drawing that preceded the final painting. Sometimes it's fun to see the planning stages. Rough is on TWC, because I'm shameless about asking for self publishing votes.

Ron and Hermione. c: 5th or 6th year. Book inspired, not movie designs. Crookshanks knows that cup isn't a cup. 8<

A commission for ~Sepia-Mortis

The Hogsmeade Weekend!
March 11 at Teviot in Edinburgh,Scotland
It is an event open to everyone. c:
This design will be printed on shirts which will be for sale.
If you live in the area and you're a fan, please consider attending. ^^
The event is put on by a uni club whose members are working very hard to make it awesome. D8 <3

The thing about graphic design for pop culture shirts is coming up with something simple that can be immediately recognized by all audiences while also still feeding into something clever that's specific to the fan cult. For instance, the Star Wars shirt that says "Han Shot First." Invested fans get the meaning while casual followers get that it's from Star Wars but might need to look up the meaning.

That's the kind of concept I wanted to make here. >< I guess I'll know if success was had when I print postcards to bring to shows with me.

Fera Verto is from the second book. 9__9

I guess if no one knows the spell or can decipher it from visual clues here, I dug too deep. :|

*nerdnerdnerd*

It was really cute to me that Ron and Hermione ended up together. ^^ I guess I was rooting for HarryxCho and GinnyxNeville *cough* and SiriusxRemus, but ah, I guess HarryxGinny is acceptable and still darling.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH this is the first piece I tried to use walnut ink on. It did complete not act the way I was thinking it would. O_o It was still pretty, but difficult to weild.

Daniel Smith watercolors
Walnut Ink and Coffee staining
Arches 140lb Cold Press paper
Prisma Colored Pencils
Photoshop, for scan cleaning, because the only thing impressive about my scanner was its very low price...

Hello! This is Stacia and Lucy, the Hogsmeade Weekend organisers, and we just wanted to say:

This is amazing!!! When Sepia-Mortis sent us the image, we were so happy that you'd taken the time to make this beautiful piece. We were thinking it'd be really popular printed on mugs for sale in Madam Puddifoot's - if that sounds good, we're looking forward to buying our own :D

Thank you so much!

Making a cup out of it is a brilliant idea! c: I do think you should. (I want one. D8) Please also feel free to make prints, those may go as well.

I'm really happy you like the image! I'm excited that it can be in Madam Puddifoot's. <3 That's adorable. I hadn't thought of that when I made a piece with tea cups.

WOW! Walnut ink, eh? That sounds..... delicious, rather than something I would want to paint with? >w<

Darn; as much as I'm a HP fan.... I don't know this spell. I almost feel like I need to re-read the books? : x

The colors are brilliant! I really appreciate the info on walnut ink; I'll have to give it a try. I know you weren't trying for quite the look you've gotten here, but I love it- you've managed to keep the organic look of watercolor and still turn it to a graphic, shirt-print-able sharpness. Those letters are especially impressive- and the way they echo Hermione's eyes is striking!

Not a Potter-fan, so I won't pretend to know any references, but this is just so lovely!:D

I love this! I'm not sure what, exactly, makes it so absolutely amazing, but I love the whimsical scene and the use of color. Also, Hermione's hair.

So cute!! The colors are nice and warm. Though technically if you want to be very nerdy, they practiced the Fera Verto spell before Hermione had Crookshanks! :O hehe (doesn't get him until Book 3)

Yeah, and before Ron had Pig. 8D

But going double nerd on you and raising you a geek, I bet Ron forgot the spell, but Hermione definitely remembers it all through school and beyond.
