To thank you for the helpful critique you wrote me, I decided to try and write a helpful one back! c:

There are two separate aspects of this image to be dealt with ~ the illustration half, and the cover design half.

Illustration:

Definitely my favorite of your covers so far. You frequently get into really saturated colors. They're very eye catching, but they can become too much if the dark/light contrast isn't effective. I think this image creates a wonderful composition between dark and light!

Your work overall, not just in this image, is very gestural and emotive. It's especially effective in comics. This being cover art though, some aspects of it could use some extra loving care in the details and the rendering. It'd be such a huge pain in the ass to render that lace, but it would be so gorgeous on cover art. It could be worth the hours and hours. I'm not advising you to render every single bit though. Contrast between sharply in focus and out of focus needs to be balanced. If it were me picking areas to spend more time on, it'd be the folds of lace closest to the viewer and the side of her face and arm and sleeve that's in the light.

Close up, it's ok, but from a distance (like if someone were walking by your table at a convention, or walking by a shelf in a book store, and they saw it from feet away) it could be improved.

Because the logo is such an active font, it might need to be on a flat color. It suffers from the white outline.

The placement of the logo is also messing with an otherwise beautiful and striking composition. I like the black on top, the white on bottom, and her in the middle. It's so simple, elegant, and very eye catching from a distance.

To keep the logo from screwing with the nice negative space at the top, you might scoot the entire composition upwards, adding more white space at the bottom, have the lace fade to white, put the logo at the bottom in dark red font on top of white, no outline needed.

Obviously the current composition makes a nice illustration, if you were to make a print without the logo or credits, keep it as it is.
