Description

Hi guys!

It's been a while but I'm finally back with a new pattern! This time it's Sandshrew. This pokemon has been requested by one of you guys. There are only a few changes from the Sandslash pattern to make this adorable creature. I personally think the plastic eyes really finishes it!

The pattern is to be found below. Please feel free to use it and ask me if something is unclear. Enjoy!

Materials:

brown, yellow and while yarn.

Black yarn for eyes or plastic eyes.

Crochet hook, I used 2,50 mm myself.

A yarn needle.

Head:

With yellow:

Rnd 1: sc 8 in magic ring (8)

Rnd 2: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)

Rnd 4-6: sc in each sc around (18)

Rnd 7: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)

Rnd 8: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (32)

Rnd 9: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (40)

Rnd 10-14: sc in each sc around (40)

Rnd 15: sc in next 3 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (32)

Rnd 16: sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (24)

Fill the head with stuffing and close.

Rnd 17: sc in next 2 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (18)

Rnd 18: sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc around (12)

With white:

Rnd 1: sc 8 in magic ring (8)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (16)

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)

Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (32)

Rnd 5: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (40)

Rnd 6: sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (48)

Place this on the bottom of the head to form the white beak part.

Body:

With yellow:

Rnd 1: sc 8 in magic ring (8)

Rnd 2: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)

Rnd 4: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)

Rnd 5: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (32)

Rnd 6: sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (40)

Rnd 7-16: sc in each sc around (40)

Rnd 17: sc in next 3 sc, dec over next 2 sc around (32)

Rnd 18-20: sc in each sc around (32)

From here on we are going to make a half circle standing up from the body on the back. This is to cocoon the head and make a more smooth transition from the body to the head.

Rnd 21: sc 4 sc into next sc, sl st in next 2 sc (4 standing)

Rnd 22: turn direction, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) till 6, sl st in next 2 sc (6 standing)

Rnd 25: turn direction, (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) till 16, sl st in next 2 sc (16 standing)

Rnd 26: turn direction, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) till 20, sl st in next sc (20 standing)

Do not close the body, fill it with stuffing and attach to the head after you have attached the white  belly and beak parts.

With white:

Start chain: chain 9

Rnd 1: sc in 2nd from hook, sc back 7 sc, 3 sc in last ch, circle around and sc 7 back, ch 1

Rnd 2: turn direction, sc in next 7 sc, (sc 2 in next sc) x3, sc in next 7 sc, ch 1

Attach this to the front of the body to form the white belly patch.

Tail:

Rnd 1: sc 4 in magic ring (4)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (8)

Rnd 3: 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in each sc around (10)

Rnd 4: repeat rnd 3 (12)

Rnd 5: repeat rnd 3 14)

Rnd 6: repeat rnd 3 (16)

Rnd 7: repeat rnd 3 (18)

Rnd 8: repeat rnd 3 (20)

Rnd 9: sc in each sc around (20)

Rnd 10: repeat rnd 3 (22)

Rnd 11: sc in each sc around (22)

Rnd 12: repeat rnd 3 (24)

Fill whit stuffing and attach to the back. This part will support your sandshrew so make sure it is well stuffed and placed.

Legs:

Rnd 1: sc 8 in magic ring (8)

Rnd 2: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)

Rnd 5: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (32)

Attach to the sides of the body and fill with stuffing while attaching. Make sure they are placed right because this will make a flatter surface for your sandslash to sit on.

Feet:

With yellow:

Rnd 1: sc 6 in magic ring (6)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)

Rnd 3-4: sc in each sc around (12)

Stop yellow yarn and attach white yarn.

Rnd 6: sc in 1st white sc, sc in each sc round (7)

Rnd 7: dec each sc around (4)

Fill the first claw and the foot with stuffing.

Then start at the open gap on rnd 4 again and repeat rnd 5-6. Fill second claw and finish with rnd 7.

Tie the ends of the white yarn at the ends of the claws together and weave them back into the foot.

Arms:

With yellow:

Rnd 1: sc 6 in magic ring (6)

Rnd 2: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (9)

Rnd 3: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)

Rnd 9: turn direction, sc in next 7 sc

Rnd 10: turn direction, sc in next 5 sc

Rnd 11: turn direction, sc in next 3 sc

I didn’t want the nails of my sandshrew to be too big so I decided to just sew three stripes on to each paw. Three stitches next to each other for one nail is what I did.

Ears:

With yellow:

Rnd 1: sc 4 in magic ring (4)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (8)

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (12)

Rnd 4: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc around (18)

Rnd 5: sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc around (24)

With white:

Start chain: chain 6

turn direction, sc in next 4 sc

turn direction, sc in next 3 sc

turn direction, sc in next 2 sc

Attach white part to ears before attaching eats to the head

Eyes:

If you want to make the eyes out of yarn you can make 6 sc in a magic ring and closed it of with a knot to make them.

Hey Blisca! You have designed some very beautiful Pokémon patterns. I know this post is a little older, but is there anyway you would be able to re-upload pictures of the finished product? Based on some of the comments I appears there are some advanced parts that might be easier to figure out with pictures. Thank you again, and I hope all is well.
