Hello everypony blinkwave here. Today I'll be reviewing the Lego Movie 2. This movie was fun, thanks to three particular aspects, these being the music, the characters and the twists. I'll place a spoiler warning here, so watch the movie and the come back to this review.
Moving on from that, the music in this movie was awesome, both the score by Mark Mothersbaugh and the actual songs. My favorite song is Queen Whateveriwannabe's "villain" song, Not Evil, sung amazingly well by Tiffany Haddish. Another song I liked was the credits song, Super Cool, a collaboration between Beck, The Lonely Island and Robyn is the explanation of why I stay for the credits. Some honorable mentions go to Gotham City Guys, Will Arnett and Tiffany Haddish having a song battle is something that you never you wanted until you have it, Catchy Song, it's catchy I like it 'nough said and Everything is Not Awesome, breaking the idealistic message of the first movie to bring an equally good ideal for the viewers.
The characters introduced in this movie are pretty good, Rex Dangervest for example, shows the dangers of trying to grow up completely. Another good example is Queen Whateveriwannabe a charming and seemingly evil character whose real motive is a surprise to both the audience and the characters. We'll end off this review with General Mayhem who starts out intimidating and soon shows how cute and sweet she can truly be.
Ending off on two major twists, the first being that Queenwhateveriwannabe is a good guy and wants to reunite two sibling worlds. This didn't really surprise me because this twist of the "bad" guy being the good guy is just the reverse of Disney's helpful villain twist. The second twist is that Rex Dangervest is the actual villain and a version of Emmet from the future. The first part of the twist didn't surprise me but the second part did mainly because I never expected it which is the best kind of twist.
Now let's grade this movie!
