Observations

1. The different font types in the note/chat is unprofessional and confirms that this is not an official DeviantArt communication.
2. The link is not a real DeviantArt link. Understanding links is described in Advisory 003. Do not click on the link!
3. The full note had the content duplicated three times. That is a red flag it is not legitimate (and is a scam) but has a consequence for Norton Genie. It will not process the note:

When I copy and paste only one part of the note, without duplications, then the assessment provided above occurs. So that mistake may indeed be intentional.

Who is Emily Hart?

Emily Hart is the name of a user who is used to sign some of these scams. (I covered this is in Advisory 003 and that Ms. Hart's name is most likely being used without her knowledge). I can tell you who Emily Hart is not...

A member of DeviantArt staff.

How can we tell? I'm getting to that. But first...

A message from our sponsors

On Discord I received this on the Community Volunteer Discord channel:

Good to know that the community is helping make DeviantArt a safer place. The important part here is the reminder that official staff has the DeviantArt logo after their name. Like with Joe...

Image

If the logo is not there, they are not staff. And you know it's a scam so report and block. Emily Hart is not here so she is not staff. (Again, to be very clear, Ms. Hart is not part of any scam. Scammers chose her name to misdirect people they want to sca,).

Link to the official staff at DeviantArt.

Link to Deviant Art's message regarding avoiding phishing/scamming.

Note: Community Volunteers, like Kat-Zaphire, are part of the DeviantArt infrastructure but as they are not paid employees, they are not listed as staff members on the DeviantArt about page.

Hi folks, indeed, these kind of scams, attempts of hacking, hijacking and such are infesting all the site and a lot of people (I mean a huge amount of users) were harmed (me included). Here's a rant jornal I did just for the sake of spreading awareness and caution. These hackers hijacked my account last week and passing as me, harmed other users. Disgusting "in extremis":

.'.'.'.'.

.'.'.'.'.

Also my own experience when I was hijacked and other users were harmed (this is the most dangerous method, even the smarter ones fell into this nasty trap):

.'.'.'.'.

.'.'.'.'.

Please be safe!!!
