Seviper used Poison Tail by BlazeTBW Seviper used Poison Tail by BlazeTBW
For :icongame-art-hq:'s Gen 3 Pokemon collab! - game-art-hq.deviantart.com/jou…

Made some custom scale brushes with a few others and tried a little on on this. The brush needs some fine tuning and patience, but I think it worked out here. :peace:

On top of the referencing the pokemon design, I recommend looking at similar animals or objects that inspired their design.

Bulbapedia is a nice place to look up trivia to find out that kind of information.

Beyond that, it's mostly practice and figuring out how to get their shapes to look "just about right".

How'd you get the scales to move so directionally? It looks fantastic.

There's a brush setting in ClipStudio called "ribbon", which can repeat a successfully repeating pattern in one line and angle itself in the direction of the stroke.

Emphasis on "successfully" lol

After that, it's some patience in placement and other settings. :peace:

I'm digging those scales. There's gotta be some way to texture the edges, so it looks like the scales have a dimension to them. Sherlock Holmes

I also love that tail, it's like Rose Black's scythe. lol

They where made a bit lighter this round as I'd have to get moe patient with the placement lol

The lighting on the scales is essentially the reversed value, so it would take some lining up on my part.

But for now, quick & dirty test lolol

That's just me not wanting to go in and erase the necessary bits for texture lol (At least not this time)

I've been tempted to get a ball python myself since I've heard they're so chill. My 7th grade science teacher had one and s hissing cockroach which were neat.

Glad ya like~

Ah nice. My dad had a few corn snakes. He told me that he'd walk to the grocery store with one on his arm, And because he couldn't walk into the store with a snake, He'd put him in a tree, Walk in, Buy his stuff, Walk out and pick up his snake. :XD: Something about that I thought sounded so funny, I just loved the thought of walking your snake. With all the stories he told me, I couldn't help but fall in love with snakes. There just so weird and cool. :)

Pfft...in a tree? :giggle: I guess he was lucky no one or nothing else snatched it up (depending on the size of the snake).

But yeah, snakes are pretty cool~

Yup, Snakes are simply awesome. My favorite simple snake story from him was that there was this one store he'd always go to for his snake needs (Basically how he got food for them) and there was this HUMONGOUS section of the store with plexiglass for walls, With a 22 ft long Albino Anaconda inside. He visited a lot, So he got to see that snake a lot (One time, With A TON of other people, He was allowed to hold it!) And put simply in his own words "It was a jewel of nature"

But yeah, Simply put, Snakes are pretty damn cool. :D
