It's Video Game Music Monday once again, and this time, we're going to delve into the realm of racing that is Mario Kart! Normally, when one thinks of Mario Kart music, one thinks of peppy, upbeat tunes featuring blaring trumpets or remixes and the like. However, there are a few spooky tunes (and stages) in the series' repertoire. In terms of which stage scared me the most as a kid, I would definitely say Banshee Boardwalk from Mario Kart 64 takes the cake.
This stage involves a creaky wooden track, a castle full of bats, a giant Cheep-Cheep, Boo ghosts, and areas where you have to be really careful to make sure you don't fall into the water. But of course, this stage wouldn't be as scary if it weren't for the music.
While I haven't been scared of this stage since I was 6, the music still occasionally gives me the chills. It is THAT powerful. Check it out for yourselves!
