back to a tick
As of today I'm no longer on deviantART staff. It's a real shame, but I really just haven't had the time to split between my studies, my job and my duties here. To be honest, I really should have stepped down before now - what with my final year of university coming up i'm going to have even less time.
This is kind of a big deal to me; I've been on deviantART staff since the end of 2003 and I've done a few things: gallery director, contest director, message network admin, and they've all been great fun. Some of the great people I've had the pleasure to work with:
karyaazure and loads more, especially the MN@
On that note, the MN@, and indeed, the staff in general, do a fantastic job and have never deserved even a fraction of the hassle I've seen them receive over the years. There's a reason dA has survived so long.
I'm not leaving dA - it's such a part of my life I couldn't, really - but in line with my lack of recent activity I'll probably be around less. Either that, or I'll suddenly develop a rekindled addiction to the site. It could go either way.
Last weekend I went to maxwell-heza's cardiff devmeet and had a fantastic time. Met some new people, met some old people, got very drunk and I'd do it all again in a flash. Looking forward to the next one.
Also, I'd like to go on record and say that I absolutely love my housemate, Kalfireth. Furthermore, I'll hopefully know better than to log myself into DA on his machine and not take the time to log myself out afterwards. Whoops!
(P.P.S.: Sorry mate!, Love Alex)
This is all out of date, so sorry about that.
On deviantART, I'm a Message Network Administrator (MN@). We work under fourteenthstar to keep dAmn at least moderately sane. I also select Daily Deviations - I focus on the Pixel Art section and occasionally ANSI art (my previous role was a GD for Pixel Art).
I have been responsible for organising the first and third 'official' deviantART UK meets; both in London. Feel free to contact me with any ideas for meets or other deviantART related activities in the UK, I'll probably be happy to help out. I run the britain account to help UK deviants find and organise meets in their area - i publicise upcoming meets in the journal.
I am also the co-founder and operator of #alt.uk, the UK channel on the deviantART IRC network, and #britain on dAmn, a channel for British deviants on dA and discussing meets. Pop into one of them some time!
In the world outside deviantART, I'm a student at Portsmouth University in the UK currently studying a degree in Digital Media.
