Hello, I'm commenting for :iconprojectcomment:.

There is no other way to say it, this is a stunning piece of artwork! I love the colors here, very warm, but also very dramatic and agressive. That's a very interesting contrast to the character's sad, empty expression. Furthermore, the quote on the right matches the overall mood and her expression perfectly. Your character seems mysterious, strong and vunerable at the same time and I admire you for being able to express so many aspects in just one picture.
I also love her design and your attention to detail - the necklace stands out the most, it's beautifully drawn and looks pretty unique with all the different symbols on it. But the other details look awesome as well, like the light blue fabic and the fluffy fur on her clothing, her delicate hair decoration and the shiny braids of her hair. You also did a great job on her facial features, they look lovingly drawn, from the full, glossy lips to the gorgeous eyes reflecting the light. I could go on for hours, this is really well done. ^^
As for a little thing that bothers me a bit:
I think that Servalia's face, while beautifully painted, reminds me a bit of a doll's face. The main reason for this is her face has somewhat childlike proportions, because the eyes are so low. There is also the matter of her skin - you chose great, beautiful colors here, but I feel that the way they are blended together makes her skin look a bit too smooth and shiny in some parts. It's possible that this was intentional or is just part of your style, but nevertheless I feel that it detracts a bit from the impact of this piece.
Other than that, I don't have anything else to stay. Amazing work, keep it up! :)

Hello! I'm from :iconprojectcomment:

I was drawn to this picture right away. The colors are breathtaking and the execution is superb as well! Her eyes are so detailed, they look like gemstones, but they aren't over the top at the same time. Also, thumbs up for adding some diversity to the usually really pale world of fantasy. Her features are really elegant, and with her jewellery, she looks like a warrior queen. For some reason, I really like the arch of her eyebrows, I know it is a stupid thing, but it adds to her elegant features. Her face is gorgeous, and all the parts alone are really well refined, but together, they give a wild beauty. She seems a mystical being, and the intricate symbols on her necklace and the feathers add to that. All the different parts and textures are really well rendered, but I would add a bit more smaller details to her clothes. Her face is so crisp, they seem a bit sketchy with the big strokes. But maybe it was the intention, as it puts the focus directly into her face, as it is the crispest part of the picture.

You're also not afraid of using contrast in your picture, and her skin especially shows all the values from really dark to white. I like the yellow rim light as it sets her apart from the background. I don't know if a more orange tone would have fitted better, as the fire behind her is more orange than yellow. Or maybe a rim light or varying colors, like how you faded it toward the top of the hair. I like how you kept the background simple, yet understandable. The sparks at the front really define the setting, though I'm not sure why they aren't in the same angle as the fire at the back. Judging by the blur of the fire, there's wind, so shouldn't the sparks flow in the same direction?

Overall this picture is great, you earned yourself a favorite. I'd personally detail the clothes a bit more, especially the fur, but the work on her face is amazing. Her expression, her features, everything just fits together. Awesome work!

Nice! This piece really has some impact! Your choice of colour pallet is fantastic!
I can clearly see a lot of work went into the facial features, and it pays off, as it truly look stunning and really draw the eye, and I really like the yellow outline too^^ It makes Servalia really stand out against the flames^^ Your use of technique to show textures in the fur, feather and metal are super. You offer just the right amount of detail to not overwork them, but still give the impression of the desired texture^^
One point of potential improvement, and I understand this may be tricky due to not having a distinct light source and having fire all around her (which you've illustrated beautifully, might I just add ^^), is making the highlights and shadows a lot more emphasised, as this would add the depth and dramatic atmosphere I feel is slightly lacking.
Your choice of words feel well thoguh and highly appropriate, in just one sentence, I feel like I can grasp her general personality and values. The composition is very well placed, but I feel like the lower half of her is missing a little love, and that the text blends in a little too well with the background ^^` I would suggest a darker colour, maybe a blue to match the darker parts of her dress, of to move the text higher to place it against the less bright part of the background ^^
In summary, I definitely feel this is a piece to be proud of! Your work and love put into the details on the face are a sight to see, and you capture the personality and emotions of Servalia fantastically^^. A little more refining in the lights and shadows department (I personally suggest the use of stock photos and resources (or even some of your own source photos, but maybe for the less "first" ones^^) they're very helpful ^^) and you have yourself a personal masterpiece! ^^

This is absolutely breathtaking!

You have a lot of depth in this created by your light and dark values, but they seem to be largely missing from below the necklace. I understand you may want to draw more attention to the face, but her bust is too large a part of the image to not add some emphasis. Similarly, the text is flat and underwhelming. It is well-written and highly-characterizing, but blends in too much with the background. I would move the text to match her eye level so the viewer reads the text while making eye contact with Servalia, and add some highlights and/or shadows, perhaps a glow, (some effect) to make it stand out more. Also, consider getting rid of the quoted style. It makes the connection between what the text says and what is going on currently in the image distant, and to me there is enough context to understand whose words they are. Your ability to make things pop out on the picture is astonishing, but you should definitely use it more here!

Love it!

Thanks for the kind words, and your observations! I agree with the points you have made. I was attempting to force more attention to the face by lessing the contrast and detail of the bust region, by trying to make it look smoky and heat distorted, but it does get sort of muddy there now that you point it out. I didnt want the text overpower anything, but probably just weakened the image by trying to make it not stand out. Thanks for your feedback!

I am glad that I could help! I always get a little apprehensive when artists agree wholly with me, just because there's no image with the changes to compare it to (and especially because you've mastered elements of art better than I have so far). But I do think it would strengthen your image and hopefully that proves true should you make the changes now or in another work. Happy creating!
