Hello from project comment

First off this is a truly dramatic piece, one can tell there is a lot going on her with the presumably dead body of an innocent looking girl blooded, and left in the decaying leaves. I think the shadow figure ads in esp intriguing area of interest, did she kill the girl? Or is this the body of a close friend? Basically though you have successfully given us a plot in an image.

The way you managed to convey the glossy streaks of hazed sunlight, helps install a sense of whimsy. I am really impressed by the lighting, it looks very life like.

Yet  though there is a fairy tale like essence, there is  also a place of urgency as well. Not just for the bludgeoned body center the piece but due to several other elements as well, the poster of the girl in the distance, the wall the trees loom overhead, all these help ad a more darker tone among the beauty of a forest floor.

The way you manage this difficult pose is quite impressive. I mostly draw people from the front and sides one due to the fact that this give more canvas room for background, but admittedly, I also find alternative poses a lot harder . The hand has a very good structure to it. And I can see you tried to fade the hand out, as to give focus to the face. This would work better if some of the hair were given a bit more detail as well, since it is in the same area of viewpoint as the face it would make the focus element more convincing.

The facial structure of the dead girl seems a bit of kilter in some areas. Such as the nose. This could be in part, that she is a race other then human? Even if not it is not really that bad, I do worse on my facial antimony. To me it is more vital to see the artist have a vision all their own.

The following is a helpful nose drawing link…

All in all this is a very good work, I send you luck on writing this interesting fantasy!!

Thanks so much for all your observations, I will certainly study them moving forward.

The same character is in these links healed and grown up.………

The bloodied girl is an ‘Elaisu’ an original race from my story. They have cat-like noses.

She is supposed to be around 8 years old in the ‘bleeding to death painting’. I do think she looks young, but I struggle with how much facial swelling I should include. She would have a lot if it were real life, but sometimes stylization is preferable when telling a story... your thoughts?

Aw she's lovely.

I see. I had a hunch about the species thing :D.

Yes I would agree. It can often be more respectful to show less gore. Most of my works are a bit lighthearted but on the occasions I have done blood I try not to go all Saw ;)

Personally my view of violence in art, is that if it glorifies violence I don't feel it has much of a moral standing but if it shows that violence is not a good thing then it is simply an example of the horrors of war. That's why I don't really like revenge movies. Again these are my personal views.

I'm wondering what's the story behind this

Ha! The events leading up to her being in this state were a touch more grim than binge drinking... 🙂
