i think the swerls represent one of her brews looking down on it wile sturing and the triangles are seam rising since it is obveously upon a freshly lit fire

Looks like the Circle of Life to me. She is from the Equestrian version of Africa after all. Quite fitting. She is an expert on herbs and potions that cure ailments and thus save lives.

It think it's either a traditional painting from her culture or maybe its how her stripes are shaped.

Only ponies have cutie marks, and Zecora is not a pony according to Twilight Sparkle. So this is just something else.

Well, considering zebras are so closely related to horses/ponies, and each one has unique stipes, then maybe they're born with a special marking on their flank.
