Dear Aunt Marie.

Hello.

This is Kevin.

I have no friends, and very few acquaintances.

I do not even know the names of the people who live in the other three apartments of our house.

I am almost completely isolated.

I am currently unemployed, and I have no money of my own, though I am currently seeking work.

I have never spoken to you, or anyone, about this before, but I have actually been suffering from heart problems for years.

I have kept it a secret from everyone, even my parents.

The first time I experienced any kind of pain in my heart was many years ago, when I was in my twenties. I was sitting on a computer chair in my room, eating candy. I felt a small rupture or disconnection within my heart, as though something had broken off from something else. It caused me considerable physical pain, and even worse fear. I was bedridden for many weeks. I spent all of that time praying for the mercy of God. I honestly do believe that The Lord did heal me, as I did eventually recover. I did not tell anyone about this incident. I never sought out medical care.

Years later, I suffered a minor heart attack. I felt a tingling sensation in my left arm. The pain in my heart, and in the surrounding area of my body, was even worse, this time. I was bedridden for months. I even had trouble making it to and from the bathroom. I was afraid to move.

I did not seek medical attention.

I spent every day and every night in prayer.

I begged for mercy, from God Himself, from the Blessed Virgin Mary, and from all of the Saints in Heaven.

By the Grace of Almighty God, I did eventually recover, though my heart was still damaged/weak.

It often hurts, though the amount of pain does vary.

I think that I can feel blood in the area around my heart, as though it is bleeding, or leaking.

Also, I often do still feel that tingling sensation in my left arm. I have read that it is a sign or a warning of a heart attack.

I have a doctor's appointment on June 4th, 2025. I intend to speak with my doctor about all of this.

Due to my heart condition, it is difficult for me to do many different types of jobs, that do require physical activity.

Standing and/or walking for several hours, stocking shelves, repeatedly carrying or lifting objects, even of moderate weight, will cause my heart to hurt, over time.

I had to quit my job (as a pizza maker) at Papa Gino's, because the constant lifting of the containers of pizza dough was just too much for me.

I need to find a job where I will be able to sit while I work, and to rest when I need to.

I have been looking at jobs that allow you to work from home.

Perhaps I could be a telemarketer, of some kind.

My mother's health is another concern.

She has never taken good care of her teeth, and most of them are rotten.

She does not go to the dentist on a regular basis, as I do.

She says that she is afraid of the needles and the drills.

I cannot blame her on that note, but the state of her oral health is quite poor, and I am afraid that she will end up suffering from dental pain, in the future.

To be young, and to have dental problems, is horrible enough. To be elderly, and to have dental problems, is a nightmare.

If she ever becomes seriously ill, or injured, then I will need help in taking care of her, and in ensuring that she receives proper medical care (taking her to doctor's visits, handling her medications, working with her health insurance, ect.).

I do not mean to complain, or to make excuses, but it is not easy to navigate the American healthcare system.

If she does pass from this life (Heaven Forbid), then I will need help with the arrangement of her funeral and burial. I will probably need help with the financial aspect of this, as well.

I know that I have already mentioned this particular concern to you before.

I am not asking you to be her (or my) actual nurse, or caretaker, in any sense.

A person who is not physically healthy cannot take care of someone else who is also not physically healthy.

I completely understand.

However, if it would be possible for one (or, perhaps, even both) of your children, my cousins, Jennifer and Billy, to come and visit me, and my mother, on occasion (or for me to visit them, though I truly would prefer if they could come here, since I do not have a car, or a driver's license) - that, in and of itself, would be a tremendous blessing.

With your consent, and with your blessing, I would like to be able to speak with both of my cousins, your children, Jennifer and Billy Jr., about the possibility of having them come here for regular visits, perhaps weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly, in order to check on my mother and myself, and to make sure that we do have everything that we will need.

Of course, you and your husband are more than welcome to visit, as well, as often as you may wish, and as often as your current state(s) of physical health allows.

I am sorry for sending you such a depressing message.

However, I truly do need your help.

I do not know enough to live on my own.

At least, not yet.

Nor will I be able to take (proper) care of my mother, in her (eventual) old age and (possible) sickness, and manage all of the various aspects of our apartment (such as the utilities), without at least some kind of assistance.

Primarily, I am in need of the basic, every-day knowledge of how to actually do so.

I have considered trying to contact a social worker and/or agency, of some kind, in order to have someone who I could speak with about this problem.

A professional guide, counselor, instructor, teacher, and/or advisor (of any kind) would be a life-saving treasure.

However, I have more faith and trust in my family, than I do in the state.

It is not that I would not want help from the government (I would!) - I simply believe in the basic trust, love, and importance of turning to my family, first

Could you please give me the contact information of your son, Billy Jr.?

I already have Jennifer's address, phone number, and email address. She gave them to me, herself.

However, I know very little about my cousin, Little Billy.

I have no way of reaching out to him, in case of any kind of serious problem or emergency.

I need his contact info.

Please, I need (not want, mind you, but NEED, in the truest sense of that word) for you to send me all of the contact information that you have (names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses), for ALL of the members of our entire extended family.

Even the ones whom I have never met or spoken to before.

I would like to speak with as many of our family members as possible, and explain my situation to them, as I have to you.

I would like to ask them for their assistance.

I would like to beg them for their help.

I may not need anything at the present moment, per se (other than knowledge, of course) - but I am certain that I will need help in the (near) future.

Near constant assistance, in fact.

I will have so many questions, and a great deal of confusion.

I may require financial assistance. In fact, I probably will.

However, even more than that, I will need the love and the support of the people who know and love me.

I apologize if any (or all) of this comes across as selfish, greedy, lazy, needy, dramatic, and/or hysterical.

But, it really is the plain and simple truth.

I need you to help me.

Please.

A new year means your Medicare Part D plan resets, with a new deductible and out-of-pocket limit, starting again on January 1st.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

••••••••••

Deductible Reset:

Most Medicare Part D plans have a deductible, which is the amount you pay for covered drugs before your plan starts paying.

This deductible resets annually on January 1st, meaning you'll need to meet the deductible amount again each year.

••••••••••

Out-of-Pocket Limit Reset:

In 2025, the annual out-of-pocket limit for Medicare Part D is capped at $2,000.

This means that once you reach $2,000 in out-of-pocket costs for covered prescription drugs, your plan will cover 100% of the cost for the rest of the year.

This limit also resets annually on January 1st.

••••••••••

No need to sign up for the cap

The cap will automatically be applied to your Part D plan, and the plan will track your spending.

••••••••••

Coverage Stages:

Part D plans typically have three coverage stages: deductible (if applicable), initial coverage, and catastrophic coverage.

Once you reach the $2,000 out-of-pocket limit, you enter the catastrophic coverage stage, where the plan covers 100% of your drug costs.

Donut Hole Eliminated:

The Part D coverage gap, also known as the "donut hole", is eliminated in 2025.
