Oh, wow -- she's incredible. I absolutely love how she's a burst of light and nature in a world of shadows and technology. Really a gorgeous image!
On a related note, I've been reading about EEVEE and it looks promising. I can't model my way out of a paper bag, so I haven't played around much with Blender 2.8, but EEVEE looks like a great addition to the package!
So far, EEVEE has been an interesting experience. I'm not completely sold on it but I'm definitely curious and looking forward to seeing where it goes.
I wonder if I can... *crash* Maybe if I... *crash*-clicks on file>open-*crash* -plugs image texture into diffuse input-*screen explodes into rainbow kaleidoscope puke*-turns on all the EEVEE settings and cranks em up to max just to see what will happen- Computer: Yes, police? I would like to report an attempted murder.
Never a frictionless thing likening one artist to another, but trust I mean only well - and I trust in turn you know well of whom I speak - when I say I knew you had some of him in you. The ribbed ripple limbs. The raised cratered joints of fingers and toes. The serpentine hair. Though it may be coincidence, a necessity brought on by the needs of composition and industrial design, the lanterns behind her head even seem reminiscent of his beloved "force light", so often forgotten by his disciples. It would seem the Master and Margarita did at last become one, and together became a creature that - in reference to a certain incident - there would have been neither horror nor shame in photographing.
But likewise, as wondrous as she is, cannot shake an ominous feeling this an encounter that may end well for her, but not so for others. I do not know the story, but from one look it is apparent the environment is technical, perhaps medical or scientific. No matter how aesthetically pleasing - the pearlescent, temple-like façade of the MRI tunnel is simply outstanding, and always pleasing to see a cold, sturdy glass terminal in an age of gossamer holograms - it is still built around principles of engineering, defined by humans; comprehensible to humans. It is immediately obvious this is an environment where she does not belong. Now, this may as well not be the case. After all, there is little about the outward appearance of a human that can be deducted from a room or a piece of hardware. But the difference is so striking - and the title certainly adds! - that she seems to be a creature of an altogether different order of being. The sort of which encounters with whom humanity rarely escapes unharmed, regardless whether malice is involved or not.
It is difficult finding something in particular to remark on, or something that seems amiss and should have been added. This is not a take on the theme of living metal quite as it is seen today. If anything, the texturing and contrasting gloss and matt seem reminiscent of the "bionecroid" living metal of Perihelion for Amiga 500. Not certain if you would find it a useful resource - it is very much a setting of orange sand and ruined castles, and the wolf boys that roam it are not as delightful to the eyes as yours - but as far as I know beautiful liquid metal characters, it stands in a class of its own. Or rather, since a little over five hours ago, perhaps no longer.
Well done. Ah... and yes, I almost forgot. Giger lives again.
Your comments are a feast for the mind. Braincandy if you will. I always look forward to hearing from you. I very much appreciate the thought and consideration you put into your replies. I always come away from reading what you write with a sense of fulfillment. Your critiques are always spot on and your observations never fail to pique my interest. In short, thank you again.
You are most welcome, and thank you in turn. It is difficult not being drawn in by a scene as this, but it is altogether impossible not to when the subject is this close to heart.
Today, you are worthier than others to wear the robe and mask.
As for commissions, alas, I am so, so overbooked atm and life just threw me several HUGE curveballs. So I'm closed for the time being. Sorry to disappoint. D:
Hey no problem ^^ Though if you have a sheet as I can have an idea of the prices, that'd be awesome :> It's to put money aside ahah And god, derp froggie should be really well hidden this time cause I sincerely cant find it D:
Yup. Sorry. Just unexpectedly became a mother in what can only be described as "very unusual circumstances." I was neither prepared for this nor did I want it. Being moved back to NY. Extreme relationship problems. Can't take on anymore responsibilities atm.
Wonderful combination of organic/inorganic shapes, the contrast in light really makes the character pop out, the fine details (especially with the luminous bits everywhere) look amazing, the color is definitely different from your normal works-- normally I find too much shadow to feel constricting. But in this piece it really brings out the way the character can shine (literally. I find myself a little too distracted by shiny dragon/fairy/lady boob. The poor girl looks so sad though...).
I like the stripes on her face and thighs, too. And that tail!!
Have you ever heard of Beowulf, from Devil May Cry 3?
Also, you're getting really good at hiding the derp froggie! I've found one spot in the middle of her wing that MIGHT have him, but otherwise you got me stumped.
normally I find too much shadow to feel constricting.I was actually worried about it appearing too dark and her being too bright. You don't think that's a problem? I tried incorporating bright lights and light spots in the environment to tie her into the darkness better.
The poor girl looks so sad though... Yeah. Wasn't my intention but she kinda drifted in that direction. In the past, my characters were all nearly expressionless. Within the last few years, I've been trying to get better at expressions. Unfortunately, one of the side-effects is that I end up making the expression that I'm painting. Alternatively, I will sometimes end up painting the expression that I'm feeling. Life just threw some pretty huge curveballs at me and that may be showing up in this piece.
Also, you're getting really good at hiding the derp froggie! I've found one spot in the middle of her wing that MIGHT have him, but otherwise you got me stumped. Muahahah! >8} Do you want a hint? I gave this hint to someone else and it was a little too on the nose I guess because he got it pretty quickly but: "He is in what you are looking at now."
Does the console say anything? It does in fact. It says WARNING! This is dummy text. Yes, this is in fact dummy text. And then I go on saying a bunch of nonsense for a few paragraphs. If it were meant to be legible, it would instead be a warning against exiting the examination area prematurely or something along those lines.
Part glowy cat-angel-scorpion-thingy, part SHINIEST OF ALL SHINES, all rage. An interesting bossfight. Also, he becomes my favorite weapon in that game: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/de…
DMC3 had an odd quirk; some of the devils there were... if not what I would call "nice" then at least very "honorable". Beowulf in particular was one that you almost felt sorry for, in a way. He was an incredibly loyal soldier who was betrayed by his beloved master.
I don't think any part of this piece is too dark, even though I think I normally would, and that is what impresses me about this piece.
I think I found derp froggie; he was a bit distorted by his location, and right next to a shiny spot. I have to admit though, excellent hiding place!
I'd love to see more of this girl-- and give her a (very careful) warm hug.
I am perfectly proficient at English... most of the time. She's floofy and yet sharp. Therefore, no pet. Not unless you want a whole lot of razor blade cuts. I wouldn't recommend cuddling either and sex is probably definitely off the table. XD I mean unless you don't mind risking certain vital man-bits.
I was going for a kind of paradoxically organic yet metallic look. Like she could be something that is metal but not necessarily man-made. Hence why her hair looks almost fractal and her markings are more scale-like.
Thanks! That's very kind of you to say. ^__^ And yeah, believe it or not, both were pretty instrumental in my formative years as an aspiring artist. Oddly enough, so were Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, The Lion King, and The Last Unicorn. XD
Hey, I'm loving this. Some seriously cool effects going on here .... except that damn frog of course, but I'm past that now
Oh yes, it doesn't bother me half so much that I can never find the little bugger. It used to drive me crazy for days on end but now just a couple of lost nights of sleep. That and the fact all that all breakables in the house have been put away ... or broken already .... everything is cool..........

I wish we could be in the places your mind lets us glimpse.

I like it
It's a funny contrast
A book I'm working on is called "Dead Metal"
Even though the machine is very much alive XD
(Also, I loved your description of this in the comments- "Giger meets Lisa Frank" Ha!)
Love how this one turned out, especially the wings!
I think Froggie has discovered optical camouflage technology now...
