3D Geometry Tutorial by BJPentecost 3D Geometry Tutorial by BJPentecost
Just a very simple tutorial... not even sure if it can be called that. It's really more of a "tips and hints" sheet for very beginnery 3D artists. =P

I hope at least a few find it useful. Maybe I'll do a more in depth one at some point but alas, at the moment, I am astronomically friggin busy. XC

Interesting, you have a T pose that is just right when it comes to rigging.

I hate rigging. XD It's the biggest pain in the ass part of getting a figure ready for animating imo.

I never rigged with anything but Biped which is still hard to use.

What do you work with? I mean what program do you use? :)

Zbrush and Blender. I used to use Maya but now I've abandoned it for Blender which is free, easier to light in, and has GPU rendering. :)

How do you address Breast or Buttocks when adding them to the wireframe?

Ah, I only just noticed this one. Nice. I know the basics of modelling but I'm not very good. This is great, gives the necessary info while letting the artist do their own thing, instead of saying 'lets model this..'.

I only know this crap because I had to draw it so much this past quarter, both orthos sheets and topology sheets to get the subdivision and geometry down. But overall this would be helpful in explaining to those who may not already know about the rules of 3d modeling

Very useful! Thank you for posting this. I've been playing with Sculptris, and working my way through an epic Blender tutorial, but some of these guidelines are new to me.

If you've tried it, how would you compare Blender to Zbrush and/or Maya? I only have access to free software at the moment, but it would be nice to hear your opinion for future reference. :)

RRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I HATE BLENDER!!!!

However, you must consider that I have been horribly spoiled by Maya. =P Blender is also free and I've seen people do things in Blender that could just as easily be done in Maya and vice versa.

Now Zbrush, I adore Zbrush. I have found Zbrush to be comparable in usefulness to Photoshop and Maya. I can't recommend Zbrush enough. Keep working in Sculptris because it is like training wheels for Zbrush.
