Hey, glad to see you are trying it out yourself. I'm not sure what link you mean. If it's the Imgur link then it's: imgur.com/a/vEEUX.
If that's not it then i don't know what you mean.

Hey i'm really glad you like them. That being said. I did them a while a go and feel like they are a bit dated. I stumled upon some imugr link where someone compiled more of those exercises by different people. So if you are interested in this exercise it might give you more interesting examples.

How does one draw ice/crystals?? :-;
BiwerVincent's avatar
sorry but i'm not sure how to help you there. The way i draw and paint anything is to Look up the thing i want to paint and analyse how the light is reflecting on and in it. In case of ice and crystals, there is a lot light that is reflecting inside which makes it really tricky to paint. It's hard to invent it. So the easiest way is to just take some images and try to replicate what is going on.

haha, well sadly i don't know the shortcut to getting good yet. But it's true. It's hard. But that's what makes it also worth it. Good luck^^ and thank you

I love your studies ! It's an impressive work, weel done !
Can you share the brush used in these study ?
BiwerVincent's avatar
Glad you like them. I really don't remember what brushes i used. And most of the time i just use what works at the time. To put it simple when using brushes i just ask myself a few questions. Do i need some texture?, do i need a hard or a soft edge? do i need the brush to scatter randomly? once i know what combination of these i need i just try out brushes in my library that look the part till one works. But sadly most of the time i have no idea what the brush is since most of the time an other brush could have worked alright too as long as it was what i need at the time.

As for brush pack. I don't remember all the source i downloaded but you can start with jaime jones brush pack and sergey kolesov brush pack.

How you did moss and grass?
BiwerVincent's avatar
I wish i could give you a tutorial on how to draw anything, but the truth is i painted it like i do everything else. I looked up photos of grass and tried as good as i could to recreate it.

The only advice i could give you when drawing foliage, grass or most things in nature is to start with your darks then middle tones and finaly the highlights.  You can of course go back an forth, buth the general idea is to have a dark base and the higlights make the diversity.

I'm really sorry if it wasn't that helpfull
Charanty's avatar
No, that explained what i was doing wrong.
Thanks!
