Self shot. The quality is poor because of the crop, it wasn't meant to be macro at all.

However the shot IS rather grainy.

This came from a 5dmrk2? The quality I hate to say is horrible. Lovely lips, but poor quality photo. I'm just going to take a wild guess and say you cropped it, and put it in the macro section. Not really a true macro though.

I totally agree.

I... was kind of thinking the same thing. For a bit I thought they tried to go for a certain style, but it doesn't really come off well. Like if the very center was a bit more focused it would make the shot way more effective.

There's some chromatic aberration in there, and the quality is super bad. I'm not sure if they were going for that either. But 'grain' is not something you should be going for if you're doing a 'macro' shot lol.But then again the higher iso is...eh. So noise is expected.

Meh.

And maybe it had some over-editing... I'm not sure. Doesn't give me the right feel though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought this, I saw it and was like "Why is this good?", especially considering there are so many other macro shots of the same subject that are of way better quality and definitely don't get the same amount of attention as this one did. I guess that's just kind of dA's thing though.
