A quick reminder that we do need your help when you are reviewing your submissions -- please check that they meet club standards! Our goal is to showcase "the best by fanartists, for fan," and we ask that you give us your best effort when you submit. We ask that you exercise your best judgement when submitting explicit content -- as a Group, we understand that BioWare deals with adult themes, but as a company, BioWare has always been very respectful of the ways that these themes are represented -- consent is a big part of BioWare romances, and content that is considered in violation of that or which objectifies the characters is NOT OKAY. We're not perfect every time catching these, which is why we need your help to maintain these values!

We also hate to have to decline people, and we're pretty sure it sucks to be declined. But if you are declined, don't despair! Check the comments if there are any and check our submission guidelines. Maybe you're a new artist just starting out -- while there may be good chances you might be declined now (especially because the admins recognize that your beginning ability and your future potential are at a mismatch), we do take the time to review each person and their galleries if there is a dispute, but it's also for this reason that we ask you to help us by reviewing the guidelines. (It takes time for us to review, just as it does for you to create.)

Submission Guidelines

A quick refresher on our submission guides:

Illustrated Art Submission GuidelinesOk. We get it that you’re busy. And maybe don’t have a lot of time to read. But here at the club, we’re trying to keep up with our motto to collect the best of the best by fans, for fans, you know? So we gotta have standards. Yup, standards. And we’re not trying to say you shouldn’t submit anything just because you’re not a pro. But we do want to see the best of what you’ve got when you submit!
To make things easy, we’ve updating our posting guidelines here with pictures! You’ll probably still want to read our full guidelines if you’re a rules stickler (and also if you get declined) but we’ll go over the basics.
The number one and most important rule: The BioWare Fan Club will only accept FAN created work fully done by you, digitally or traditionally. We’re not picky about whether you drew it by hand or as a photo-manipulation, but it does need to show EFFORT and it needs to be r

It's always sad to get a rejection in your inbox, and we don't like giving them out, either. But your acceptance of this club's membership comes with acceptance of our rules and submission guidelines. Reviewing the guidelines in advance informs you of what you can or can't submit, and gives you advance notice of what might be rejected.
The guidelines are not meant to discourage submissions. To make it a great club experience for all, however, the Admins here have made a few assumptions:
a) we assumed that you joined the BioWare F
BioWare Fan Club ValuesHi folks!  There has been a some debate about copyright issues in association with fanart on the BioWare communities lately. Without naming any names, I want to set folks straight on what we do and do not allow as a fan community, and how to protect yourself as a fan writer and artist.
Our humble BioWare Fan Club began as a handful of fans who really loved all things BioWare. We just wanted to have a place to share our fan created artworks and stories. It’s been amazing that we have since grown into a real community with hundreds of members. Wow.
As a club, we don't claim credit for creating the worlds or the characters, and do not try to profit commercially from our works. The joy of having a fan community is to be able to share, and indulge in your love of a shared universe. I very much want to keep the BioWare Fan Club as a SAFE place to share and express our mutual appreciation of BioWare works. Please join me in keeping it positive.
We’re a Fan Commun

3D Guidelines Update

In addition, we are now adding new guidelines for 3D submissions to reflect the growing quantity of 3D creations. The :devvbiowarefanclub: recognizes that 3D artistic compositions as legitimate forms of fanart, but we also recognize that 3D tools are increasingly commonplace. For this reason, we ask that 3D artists please meet a bare minimum standard of resolution for submissions, like good lighting, composition, and originality for 3D artists. Particularly for artists that use extracted models like from XNALara; if you can use models that are near the quality of what is in the original game, we ask that you produce work that is at least equal, if not better, than scenes/screenshots from the game.

Qualities we will be examining in said submissions:

:bulletblue: Composition & layout must show thought and effort: if you are putting in the time to make a piece make it stand out! Think cinematic quality artwork; don't make your work look like just another screenshot. (Because we don't accept those.)

:bulletblue: Characters should show that there was show effort at posing and expressions. Posing is very much like taking a photograph, except you have (near) total control of every single element of the "set" and the "model". Take the people who used DAZ Studio, for example, another posing program that uses pre-rendered models. They can create stuff like this:
JellyfishRisebyIreland by DAZ-3D Winter 2 by DAZ-3D
And we'd love to see that from you!

:bulletblue: We expect lighting to contribute to the scene. If this is a studio photo shoot style 3D shot, then it should be clean white light like you would expect in a photo studio. But if it's in a dark space, or in a specific environment, then there should be a dramatic lighting from some source that makes the composition look more dynamic.

As ever, if you do run into questions about these guidelines, feel free to ask an Admin! We try to respond to all of our messages as promptly as we can. Just leave us a note on the Club page or send it via dA Notes.

Nudity, Explicit Content, and Consent

Lastly, a general nudity rule: deviantArt does not accept the submission of pornographic content, and neither will we. We do understand that BioWare makes adult oriented content in their games, but we also believe that BioWare does this in a tasteful way that is respectful of the characters involved. As a company, BioWare has traditionally always valued consent and respect in its relationship dynamics, and this is a part of our values as a fan group for BioWare content as well. It must be said: some of the works we get submitted here do not reflect those values.  :( :( :( :( :(

Artworks submitted to us should NEVER be created solely for the sake of sexually objectifying the characters. Please, no boobs and camel toes and penises just to show off these body parts! We also value CONSENT in explicit material. Anything that can be interpreted as forced or against another characters' will is considered objectionable. Certain body parts can be shown within deviantArt official guidelines, but we exercise our right to reject them if they are presented in a way that shows the body part or the character is simply there to be objectified. "Fan service" artwork can be accepted if it is able to demonstrate more than just sexualization or fetishization of the characters. (e.g. there is a scene between two characters that is plausible, or the creator has an extensive story about their relationship, etc.)

Thanks!
