It has been two weeks since the Resident Evil 7 was launched, have you managed to play it and possibly finished it? If so, what are you thoughts on it? Do you think that Capcom managed to fulfill their idea to return to the "original horror roots" of the survival horror of Resident Evil? It is definitely a new concept due to the FP point of view, but what else is different? I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few references to old RE game, especially to REmake, Zero, Code Veronica etc. Some places, locations and items (keys, the crank, herbs, concept of saving - recording on tapes etc.) were similar, creating nice nostalgic atmosphere, though for me it cannot be compared to the old RE games and compete with them at all, since they will stay special forever and cannot be replaced, only imitated that, is for sure.
The gameplay of RE7 is more in survival like mode, not that easy shooting and action stuff (like in RE4, 5, 6), you also had to think about using items and ammo wisely, solving puzzles, finding keys etc. It happened to have some heartattack surprises on the way too
The concept regarding the girl Eveline reminded me more of Silent Hill (especially the feeling in the locations in the old house) but it depends... Surely it is individual for everyone. I still see a lot of influence from other games in RE7, so it is definitely a mixture of many concepts, yet I would say it is well-done game and I enjoyed playing it. Though I do not fancy the idea of this being the 7th RE since I do not see the direct link-up to the previous games. It is more like Revelations or other spin-off game. But what do you think? Please share your thought and ideas Rejiclad
