I accumulate them naturally through obsessive-compulsively thinking I might have some use for them.  Ironically, a few series of images that had specific purposes were not included because I had cropped them to just the size I wanted and they looked awkward in the video.

I never finished YS IV unfortunately so I never got around to trying V. One day! I hear V is kind of weird but it's Falcom so

Part five was not translated into English until 2013!   Thus during my attempt in 2004 I could only get as far as I could figure out what I was doing, and in a game like that I inevitably missed something important early that would be useful later.  However, as it was much better programmed than earlier titles in the series, I felt compelled to force through information I was lacking, though a "purist" could look at results of the earlier bad programming and claim those made the games unique, and not bother if in my position.

Brandish 2 also only got semi-recently translated, as I recall. Still need to get through that. As for Ys, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by bad programming. Aside from Wanderers, I always kind of enjoyed the battle system, as weird as it seems. Something about attacking almost-at-the-side-of-the-opponent gameplay appealed to me. Falcom's weird games appeal to me. Nihon Falcom might be my #aesthetic

Maybe I should say minimalist or economical programming.  Falcom started releasing their weird "action" role playing games for personal computers in the 1980s and did not put forth much effort to expand the range of actions, animation or effects once they expanded into systems with more powerful hardware.  Ys 3, obviously, is ported from one of those computers, but Popful Mail was developed specifically for consoles, yet it still feels like Ys 3 (although I never tried the PC-Engine version).  Sorcerian is just silly-looking.  Ys 4 was outsourced to companies that wanted to remind people of Ys2, which evidently was liked better than 3.  Ys 5 is the first one I tried where I felt the game was designed for the system it was on.

Brandish I could not take much of, but I cannot say if that is due to the interface or just that I hate being stuck in a cave all the time.
