Location Theta Cassiopeiae b
Description
(11/31/2002)
E-8 Master Sergeant Dorado, an operator attached to a recon team within the 5th Special Forces Group (US Army) is pictured waiting for extraction via an Air Force pavehawk helicopter. This photo was taken after a four day-long expedition through the deserts of Theta Cassiopeiae b, as part of a joint operation with Yemeni special operations troops to map out the locations of confederate SAM sites and communication posts over a long stretch of desert. Since the posts were considered too dangerous and well-defended to risk losing ground personnel, the intel provided to both respective governments would subsequently be used days later to allow allied jet fighters to locate and neutralise the sites with precision bombing runs. This was a crucial step towards allowing more human troops to mass in the deserts of the planet and set up forward operating bases, enabling them to expand towards the more heavily colonised northern and southern regions from the equator.
